KBO picks and predictions

Saturday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kiwoom Heroes ML (-146) vs Doosan Bears

The Heroes won their 7th consecutive game on Friday, beating the Doosan Bears 4-2. They will be in prime position for yet another win because they will start Eric Jokisch in this game. He is 1-0 on the season and has an ERA of 0.71. In 2 starts this season he has allowed 1 earned run in 12.2 innings pitched.

Doosan will be looking to get back in the win column here after having their three-game win streak snapped on Friday. It is clear a tough test, seeing how Kiwoom is playing right now. The Bears will counter with Lee Young-Ha, who has yet to record a decision this season. He has 2 starts, though, allowing 5 earned runs in 11.1 innings.

The Heroes are probably the hottest team in the league right now based on the fact that they have won 7 games in a row. They also have the edge on the mound, so backing Kiwoom to win will be the play.

Kia Tigers ML (-142) vs NC Dinos

The Kia Tigers were shutout on Friday and will be looking to get back in the win column on Saturday. The Tigers will start Ronnie Williams, who is 0-1 on the season, but has an ERA of 2.08. In his 2 starts, he has allowed 2 earned runs over 8.2 innings. He also got unlucky in his last start, seeing that he allowed 5 unearned runs due to poor defense. This led to him picking up the loss.

The NC Dinos have started the season extremely slow, but finally picked up another win on Friday morning. The Dinos will start Shin Min-Hyeok, who is 0-2 on the season and has an ERA of 5.91. Over his 2 starts he has allowed 7 earned runs in only 10.2 innings. His most recent start was particularly poor, allowing 5 earned runs in 4.2 innings to the LG Twins.

The Tigers’ defense is a big reason why their starter has a loss this season, but he has been much better than that considering his ERA. Min-Hyeok has shown nothing this season to justify backing him, so backing the Tigers instead will be the play.

Samsung Lions vs SSG Landers ML (-184)

The SSG Landers got back in the win column on Friday, shutting out the Samsung Lions 5-0. They will have to like their chances on Saturday, as well, seeing that they will be starting Noh Kyung-Eun. He is 2-0 to start the season, and has an ERA of 0.82. Over his 2 starts he has allowed just 1 earned run in 11.0 innings.

With the loss on Friday the Lions fell back to .500 on the season. They will counter with Baek Jung-Hyun, who has yet to record a decision and has an ERA of 5.40. In his lone start this season Jung-Hyun struggled through 6.2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs to the Kiwoom Heroes.

The Lions showed nothing offensively on Friday, and Saturday should be no different. The SSG Landers have the clear advantage in starting pitcher, so backing them will be the play.
