KBO picks and predictions

Thursday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Doosan Bears ML (-195) vs KT Wiz

The Doosan Bears and KT Wiz saw their game get rained out on Wednesday morning and both will be looking to get back on track for Thursday. The Bears currently sit in 3rd place, posting a 6-3 record through the first 9 games of the season. They will start Robert Stock in this game, who is off to a great start this season. He is 2-0, posting an ERA of 2.13. in his 2 starts, he has allowed just 3 earned runs over 12.2 innings. His most recent start saw him go 7.2 innings without allowing a run to the Lotte Giants, which suggests he could have similar success here.

On the other side, the KT Wiz come into this game just 2-7 on the season. They will counter with So Hyeong-Jun. He is 0-1 to start the year, posting an ERA of 6.00. This is over just 1 start, where he allowed 4 earned runs in 6.0 innings to the SSG Landers.

The extra day of rest should help both sides, but Stock has been too strong so far to fade. For that reason, back the better team with the better pitcher to pick up the win.

Hanwha Eagles vs Samsung Lions ML (-225)

The Samsung Lions cruised to win a win against the Hanwha Eagles on Wednesday, beating them 12-1 to move back to .500 on the season. They have now won 2 games in a row and will be looking for a 3rd straight victory against an Eagles team that is clearly struggling. The Lions will start David Buchanan in this spot, who is 0-2 to start the season. Despite his record, Buchanan has still been one of the best pitchers so far this season. He has allowed just 3 earned runs over his 2 starts and has pitched at least 6.0 innings in each one. His 2.08 ERA tells the real story about how effective he has been and just has been unlucky with run support or his bullpen blowing the game.

The Eagles continue to lose games as a rapid pace, and have clearly shown so far that they will not be a threat this season. They will counter with Park Yoon-Chul, who has just 1 start this season. He only managed 3.2 innings in that lone start, allowing 2 earned runs to the Kia Tigers, giving him an ERA of 4.91.

The Lions’ offense was superb in their game on Wednesday and have the clear pitching advantage with Buchanan. For that reason, back the Lions to continue their win streak, while handing the Eagles another loss.

SSG Landers ML (-165) vs LG Twins

The SSG Landers continued their perfect start to the season with another win against the LG Twins on Wednesday, beating them 4-2. They will go for their 11th straight win on Thursday and will have Wilmer Font on the mound to do just that. Like the team, Font is off to a perfect start as well. He has 2 starts this season, and has yet to allow a single run. He also has allowed just 2 hits in 15.0 with 15 strikeouts already.

The LG Twins will counter with Adam Plutko, hoping to finally hand the SSG Landers their first loss on Thursday morning. Plutko has been solid to start the season, going 1-1 through his first 2 starts. He has allowed 4 earned runs in 11.0 innings pitched and has an ERA of 3.27.

Even though Plutko has been serviceable, the SSG Landers are too hot right now to fade. Font has been the best pitcher in the KBO so far, therefore backing another win for the SSG Landers will be the play.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a 3-team parlay — which pays out at +250.
