KBO picks and predictions

Tuesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kia Tigers vs Lotte Giants – Over 8.5 runs (-116)

The total should likely be considered the better play for this game based on the poor form that both starters are coming into this game with. Yang Hyeon-Jong has allowed at least 4 runs in 4 of his last 5 starts and has allowed a total of 23 runs (22 earned) over 28.1 innings. In 4 starts against the Giants this season he has allowed 12 earned runs over 26.0 innings.

On the other side, Park Se-Woong has allowed 5 or more runs in 3 of his last 5 starts. During this stretch he has allowed a total of 18 runs (11 earned) over 27.2 innings. In 3 starts against the Tigers he has allowed 7 runs (6 earned) over 17.0 innings. Based on the poor form recently from both starters, backing the over looks to be worth a play.

SSG Landers ML (-160) over LG Twins

The LG Twins dominated the Lotte Giants 14-1 this past Sunday. They are now 72-42-1 this year and remain in 2nd place — but now are just 4 games behind. The Twins will start Lee Min-Ho, who is 10-5 and has an ERA of 5.49. In 21 starts he has allowed 61 earned runs over 100.0 innings.

The SSG Landers had their game canceled on Sunday morning due to rain, so they are still 77-39-3. Their 1st-place lead is starting to dwindle, but seeing that this is a game against the 2nd place team, they will try and widen the gap again. The SSG Landers will start Kim Kwang-Hyun, who is 10-2 and has an ERA of 1.85. In 22 starts he has allowed 28 earned runs over 136.1 innings.

The SSG Landers have the clear pitching advantage on Tuesday with Kwang-Hyun, as he has been nothing but dominant this season. For that reason, backing the SSG Landers to win will be the play.

Samsung Lions ML (-140) over Kiwoom Heroes

The Kiwoom Heroes had their game canceled on Sunday morning due to rain, so they remain 69-51-2. They are still in the midst of a 5-game winning streak and are still in 3rd place in the league standings. The Heroes will start Tyler Eppler, who is 5-7 in 2022 and has an ERA of 4.56. In 26 appearances (21 starts) he has allowed 59 earned runs over 116.1 innings.

The Samsung Lions also had their game canceled on Sunday, so they remain in 8th place in the league standings. The Lions will counter with David Buchanan, who is 6-8 and has an ERA of 3.41. In 20 starts he has allowed 45 earned runs over 118.2 innings.

Eppler is becoming more inconsistent by the game, and while Buchanan has not gone deep into games in a few of his most recent starts, he has had success against the Heroes this season. Therefore backing the Lions will be the play on Tuesday.

Extra KBO picks and predictions for Tuesday, September 6

KT Wiz ML (-188) over Hanwha Eagles

The KT Wiz will start Ko Young-Pyo, who has an ERA of 2.85. The Hanwha Eagles will counter with Yefry Ramirez, who has an ERA of 3.67. Ramirez started his 2022 campaign solid, but a few rough starts making backing the more reliable pitcher in Young-Pyo worth a play.

Doosan Bears +1.5 (-164) over NC Dinos

The NC Dinos will start Drew Rucinski, who has an ERA of 2.61. The Doosan Bears will counter with Brandon Waddell, who has an ERA of 4.00. Despite Rucinski holding the edge, he has an ERA of 6.32 against the Bears and is 0-3 against them. For that reason backing the Bears on the run line will be the play.
