KBO picks and predictions

Tuesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

NC Dinos vs Lotte Giants ML (-184)

The NC Dinos’ season continues to get worse by the day, losing their 5th straight game on Sunday. This was a loss to the LG Twins by a score of 3-2. They will be hoping to snap this losing streak on Tuesday by starting Kim Si-Hoon. He is 1-0 on the season and has an ERA of 1.69. In 11 appearances (2 starts), Si-Hoon has allowed 4 earned runs over 21.1 innings. In his only 2 starts, Si-Hoon allowed 4 earned runs over 10.0 innings.

With a loss to the NC Dinos on Sunday, the Lotte Giants are now 16-14-1 on the season. They have lost 4 games in a row, but have a great chance to bounce back on Tuesday with Park Se-Woong taking the mound. He is 4-0 on the season and has an ERA of 1.47. In 6 starts this season, Se-Woong has allowed 5 earned runs over 36.2 innings.

The Dinos might have one of their better pitchers on the mound in what has been a dreadful season, but he has had limited starting experience, while Se-Woong has dominated in almost every start this season. For that reason, backing the Lotte Giants will be the play.

SSG Landers ML (-146) vs Samsung Lions

The SSG Landers stormed past the Kiwoom Heroes on Sunday to close out the week with a 6-2 win. They are now 23-8-1 on the season, leading in 1st place by 5.5 game. To start the new week, the SSG Landers will be scheduled to start Lee Tae-Yang. He is 2-0 on the season and has an ERA of 2.08. In 8 appearances this season (2 starts), Tae-Yang has allowed 5 earned runs over 21.2 innings. In just his 2 starts, he has allowed 3 earned runs over 11.0 innings. The only time he faced the Samsung Lions this season was in relief, where he pitched 1.2 innings without allowing a run.

The Lions also won on Sunday, beating the Lotte Giants 4-2 in extra innings. This was their 5th win in a row and they are finally back to .500 on the season. The Lions are now 6th in the league standings and trail 5th place by just 1 game. Tuesday’s game could be a tough spot for them though as they will be starting Baek Jung-Hyun. He is 0-2 on the season and has an ERA of 6.60. In 5 starts this season, Jung-Hyun has allowed 22 earned runs over 30.0 innings. He also has 1 start against the SSG Landers, where he allowed 5 earned runs over 5.0 innings.

The gap in starting pitcher gives the SSG Landers the clear edge for Monday’s game. Even though the Lions are on a nice win streak, Jung-Hyun is not a pitcher that can be trusted, therefore backing the SSG Landers will be the play.

Hanwha Eagles vs LG Twins – Over 7.5 runs (-118)

The total should be the much more confident play based on how much Lee Min-Ho has struggled this season. The Eagles do not have a good offense by any means, sitting last in total runs and averaging just 3.53 runs per game. However, their bullpen has not been good this season and Jang Min-Je has allowed 6 earned runs over 13.0 innings in the 3 games he started. The Twins will likely need to score several runs to keep up in this game. Their offense is 4th in total runs and they are averaging 4.34 runs per game. Based on the struggles on Min-Ho and the struggles of Min-Je in games he has started, backing the over will be the play.
