KBO picks and predictions

Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Hanwha Eagles vs LG Twins -2.5 (-126)

The LG Twins cruised to a win against the Hanwha Eagles 10-4 on Tuesday morning. The Twins are now 39-28-1 on the season, have won 2 games in a row and are 3rd place in the league standings. Wednesday looks to be another great opportunity to pick up another win, as they will start Casey Kelly. He is 8-1 and has an ERA of 2.44. In 12 starts the has allowed 20 earned runs over 73.2 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Eagles have now lost 9 games in a row. They are now 22-44-1 and remain in last place in the league standings. The Eagles will counter with Yun Dae-Kyung, who is 3-6 and has an ERA of 6.71. In 13 appearances (12 starts) he has allowed 45 earned runs over 60.1 innings.

This is easily one of the biggest mismatches of the season so far, and there is no reason not to trust Kelly in shutting down the worst team in the KBO. The Twins are much too big of a favorite to back on the money line, so for that reason backing the Twins on the run line will be the play.

NC Dinos ML (-132) vs KT Wiz

The KT Wiz cruised to a win on Tuesday, beating the NC Dinos by a score of 8-1. They are now 33-33-2 this year, have won 2 games in a row, and are 5th place in the league standings. The KT Wiz will start Bae Je-Seong, who is 3-5 and has an ERA of 3.24. In 13 starts this season, he has allowed 28 earned runs over 77.2 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the NC Dinos are now 26-39-2 and remain in 9th place in the league standings. They will counter with Koo Chang-Mo, who is 3-0 and has an ERA of 0.40. In 4 starts in 2022 he has allowed just 1 earned run over 22.2 innings.

Even though Chang-Mo has a limited sample size of just 4 starts, he has been dominant in all of his starts. Je-Seong has been inconsistent enough to fade here, so backing the Dinos will be the play behind their elite starting pitcher.

Kiwoom Heroes ML (-148) vs Samsung Lions

The Kiwoom Heroes won a close game against the Samsung Lions on Tuesday, beating them by a score of 4-3. The Heroes are now 40-27-1 this year and are still 2nd place in the league standings. They are also now just 2.5 out of 1st place with the SSG Landers losing on Tuesday morning. The Heroes will start Choi Won-Tae, who is 3-3 in 2022 and has an ERA of 3.79. In 12 starts he has allowed 24 earned runs over 57.0 innings.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Lions are now 32-35. They are still 6th place in the league standings. The Lions will counter with Baek Jung-Hyun, who is 0-6 and has an ERA of 6.38. In 10 starts this season, he has allowed 39 earned runs over 55.0 innings.

The fact that Jung-Hyun has not recorded a win this season is reason enough to fade the Lions on Wednesday morning. For that reason backing the Heroes to keep pace with the SSG Landers will be the play.

Extra KBO picks and predictions for Wednesday, June 22nd

Lotte Giants vs Kia Tigers ML (-146)

The pitching matchup is relatively even in this matchup, but Lee Eui-Lee and the Kia Tigers look to have a small edge. Eui-Lee has an ERA of 3.80 compared to Glenn Sparkman, who has an ERA of 4.33. For that reason, backing the Tigers looks to be worth a small play.

Doosan Bears ML (-106) vs SSG Landers

The Doosan Bears crushed the SSG Landers 16-2 on Tuesday morning. Wednesday morning also looks to be a decent spot for them, as they will start Gwak Been — who has an ERA of 3.69. The SSG Landers will counter with Oh Won-Seok, who has an ERA of 4.04. Therefore backing the Bears to win will be the play.
