KBO picks and predictions

Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

NC Dinos ML (-122) over LG Twins

The NC Dinos and LG Twins had their game canceled on Tuesday morning due to rain, so they will look to start their series on Wednesday. The Dinos last played this past Sunday, where they beat the KT Wiz by a score of 5-0. They are still 48-59-3 on the season, but remain in 7th place in the league standings. The Dinos will start Drew Rucinski on Wednesday morning, who is 8-9 on the season and has an ERA of 2.64. In 24 starts this season, he has allowed 45 earned runs over 153.1 innings.

The LG Twins also last played on Sunday, where they beat Kiwoom Heroes by a score of 7-0. They are still 68-42-1 on the season and remain in 2nd place in the league standings. The Twins will counter with Lee Min-Ho, who is 10-5 on the season and has an ERA of 5.42. In 20 starts this season, he has allowed 58 earned runs over 96.1 innings.

Even though Min-Ho has a solid record this season, his ERA is very concerning. Rucinski has been far more consistent and has had much more success against the Twins compared to Min-Ho against the Dinos. For that reason, backing the Dinos will be the play for Wednesday morning.

Doosan Bears vs KT Wiz – Under 7.5 runs (-136)

The total looks to be the better play in this matchup based on the seasons that both of these starters are having. Brandon Waddell only has 4 starts this season, but has allowed 3 runs or less in each one thus far. In his only start against the KT Wiz, he allowed 2 earned runs over 6.0 innings.

On the other side, Ko Young-Pyo has allowed 4 or more runs in 5 starts this season. In his last 4 starts, he has allowed 7 earned runs over 27.1 innings. In 5 starts against the Bears this season, he has allowed 10 earned runs over 36.1 innings. Based on the success that Young-Pyo has had against the Bears and the success that Waddell has had in all 4 of his starts this season, backing the under looks to be worth a play.

Samsung Lions +1.5 (-108) over SSG Landers

The SSG Landers and Samsung Lions had their game canceled on Tuesday due to a rain out, so they will try again on Wednesday morning. The SSG Landers lost their game this past Sunday to the Lotte Giants by a score of 4-2. They are 76-36-3 on the season and are still in 1st place in the league standings by 7.0 games. The SSG Landers will start Wilmer Font on Wednesday morning, who is 13-6 on the season and has an ERA of 2.59. In 23 starts this season, he has allowed 44 earned runs over 153.0 innings.

The Samsung Lions won their most recent game on Sunday, beating the Hanwha Eagles by a score of 5-4. They are 47-65-2 on the season and are still in 9th place in the league standings. The Lions will counter with Albert Suarez, who is 4-7 on the season and has an ERA of 2.67. In 23 appearances (22 starts) this season, he has allowed 38 earned runs over 128.0 innings.

Both starters have had solid seasons, but Font has had a few rough starts recently. For that reason, backing the Lions to keep this game close behind Suarez will be the play for Wednesday morning.
