KBO picks and predictions

Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kiwoom Heroes vs SSG Landers – Under 7.5 Runs (-132)

The total should be seen as the better play because of the starting pitching in this game. They did hit the over on Tuesday, scoring a combined 13 runs, but a tight pitchers’ duel should be expected here. The Heroes are averaging 3.7 runs per game, while allowing 3.2 runs per game. On the other side, the SSG Landers are scoring 5.2 runs per game, while allowing 2.6 runs per game. Despite the SSG Landers having the best offense in the league, the starting pitching is too strong in this matchup to expect either side to do much offensively. For that reason, backing the under will be the recommended play.

KT Wiz vs LG Twins ML (-210)

The KT Wiz managed to shut out the LG Twins on Tuesday by a score of 5-0 to pick up their 4th win of the season. Wednesday’s game might be more of a struggle though, seeing that they will be starting So Hyeong-Jun. He is 0-1 on the season, but his 5.68 ERA is a concern. Through 2 starts, Hyeong-Jun has allowed 8 earned runs (4 earned runs in each start) in just 12.2 innings pitched.

With the loss on Tuesday, the Twins are now tied for 2nd place with the Kiwoom Heroes, still chasing the SSG Landers. They will counter with Adam Plutko, who is 2-1 this season and has an ERA of 2.65. In his 3 starts, he has allowed 5 earned runs in 17.0 innings. He really only has had 1 shaky start, but bounced back last time out, holding the SSG Landers to 1 earned run in 6.0 innings.

The Twins are a hard team to beat 2 days in a row and the fact that they have the edge in starting pitcher should help them get back into the win column. For that reason, backing the Twins will be the play.

Hanwha Eagles vs Lotte Giants ML (-205)

The Hanwha Eagles actually managed to pick up a win to start the week, but still have just 4 wins on the season. This looks to be a decent spot for them as they will start Park Yoon-Chul on Wednesday morning. Yoon-Chul has not yet recorded a decision this season, but has an ERA of 2.35. In 2 starts this season, he has allowed 2 earned runs over 7.2 innings, so he does not exactly go deep into games.

With a loss on Tuesday, the Giants are back to .500 and will be looking once again to get back into the win column. The Giants will counter with Park Se-Woong on Wednesday morning. He is 2-0 to start the season and has an ERA of 2.60. In 3 starts this season, Se-Woong has allowed 5 earned runs in 17.1 innings.

Even though the Eagles put together a good performance on Tuesday, they are still not a team to be trusted. Their starter has yet to pitch more than 4.0 innings in a game this year, which should give the Giants plenty of chances to take control of this game once the bullpen comes in for Hanwha. Se-Woong has also been one of the better pitchers in the KBO this year, so baking them will be the play.
