After a doubleheader on Thursday, the New York welcomes a Tigers team to Yankee Stadium that also had a nice week. However, the Yankees still have the best winning percentage in all of baseball, while Detroit is fighting to stay above the bottom of the AL Central. There are a lot of aspects going on in this game, including some revenge. Along with this same game parlay, be sure to check out our thoughts on the side and total for all of today’s games.

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

New York Yankees -2.5 (+125) over Detroit Tigers

The Yankees just completed the sweep of the Angels in a doubleheader on Thursday, and should continue to roll against the Tigers. Detroit may be coming off of a good series against the Twins, but that was a depleted Minnesota roster that has Carlos Correa and others on the Covid list. New York is in for the 3rd game in 2 days, but has the luxury of staying in their home ballpark. They also have the luxury of their ace, Gerrit Cole, on the mound.

Cole is going to be out for some revenge, as the Tigers gave him his only rough start of the season. He only allowed 2 runs, but was pulled after just 1.2 innings. He should have no concerns in avenging his performance, as Detroit is by far the lowest-scoring team in the league with just 146 runs. That is 28 runs less than the Pirates 1 spot above them, and Cole has been incredible since his game against the Tigers. He’s recorded at least 9 strikeouts in 5 of his 7 starts since that outing. There should also be no issue with getting enough run support either. Even without Giancarlo Stanton, the Yankees are still a top-10 run-scoring team. Aaron Judge seems to be hitting home runs at will, and should help support Cole on the way to a comfortable series-opening win.

Yankees ML 1st 5 innings (-135)

Cole’s dominance has already been focused on, and is the primary factor for the Yankees having no issues with the 1st 5 innings of this game. In terms of 1st 5 inning money line bets, the Yankees are the 2nd-most profitable with a 26-9-14 record. On the flipside, the Tigers are the 2nd-worst. Those trends should hold true with Elvin Rodriguez on the mound for Detroit. He has just 2 starts on the season, which came after more than a month off the mound, and has a 6.17 ERA.

If there were concerns for the Yankees bullpen holding up the money line portion of this leg after a doubleheader, not to worry. Firstly, New York has had one of the lowest bullpen ERAs throughout the entire season. Secondly, they are surprisingly rested for having played 2 games yesterday. Nestor Cortes provided 7.0 full innings in the first game, and Jameson Taillon pitched 8.0 full innings in his near-perfect game. With Cole expected to pitch deep into Friday’s game, the Yankees bullpen should perform just as great as they have all season.

Aaron Judge to record 3+ total bases (+160)

There would be nothing wrong with making this leg an Aaron Judge home run, as he has 3 more than any other hitter this season. However, we’re going with the slightly safer route for today’s game. Judge was able to hit a home run off of Shohei Ohtani in the first game of yesterday’s doubleheader, but did not perform nearly as well in the night game. However, the power hitter is still 2nd in the league with 122 total bases, behind only Rafael Devers.

He’s continued to step up even with opposing pitchers knowing full well what he is capable of doing. Judge has the pressure of Stanton being out of the lineup and playing for a contract extension, and still has not missed a beat. He should have no issues hitting Elvin Rodriguez today, as he has just 3 career appearances. Not only is he leading the league with 19 home runs, he’s among the best with 56 hits. His consistency for contact is why we are taking the safer route today. Yankee Stadium is not only great for hitters, but also has a slightly outward blowing wind for today’s game. That only enhances Judge’s ability to add to his home run lead and hit this prop with just a single swing.
