MLB Monday same game parlay (+988 odds): New York Mets vs Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Kyle Schwarber (12) hits an RBI single during the eighth inning against the Oakland Athletics at Citizens Bank Park.

We have a full 12-game slate for Monday that includes a divisional rivalry in Philadelphia. Here is a look at the best same game parlay option for Mets-Phillies game, and also be sure to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.

Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (+130)

Kyle Schwarber over 1.5 total bases (+120)

Nick Castellanos to record an RBI (+115)

Parlay odds: +988

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Schwarber recording at least 2 bases and Castellanos bringing in a run would work well with both a Philadelphia win and cover. Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.

Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (+130)

Taijuan Walker was solid in the first half of the 2021 season with a 2.66 ERA and a 3.06 FIP, but he was a different player after the all-star break. He posted a 7.13 ERA and a 6.79 FIP across his final 64.1 innings including getting rocked by the Phillies. Several Philadelphia hitters seem to hit abnormally well whenever they play their divisional rival as Walker owns a 8.02 FIP and a .410 xwOBA against the current Philadelphia roster.

The Mets bullpen is fairly exhausted and the Phillies arm barn has thrown the 2nd-fewest number of innings this season which gives Philadelphia an obvious advantage late in the game. Expect the Phillies to score early and often.

Kyle Schwarber over 1.5 total bases (+120)

The baseball must look like a beach ball to Schwarber when it comes out of Walker’s hand. Schwarber is 5-for-10 with all 5 hits being home runs against Walker. So far this season, Schwarber is 2-for-10, but 1 of his hits was a home-run. I’m not going to overthink this matchup as Schwarber seems to have success against Walker and the Mets pitching every time he faces them.

Nick Castellanos to record an RBI (+115)

Hitting in the cleanup spot in this Philadelphia lineup gives Castellanos plenty of opportunities to bring a runner in. He has Schwarber, Jean Segura, and Bryce Harper in front of him in the lineup and all of them have had success against Walker and the Mets pitching in their careers. In Castellanos’ 6 career at-bats against Walker, he is 2-for-6 including a homer.

If the Phillies are going to win this game, they are going to need Castellanos’ help. The slugger should help the Phillies take Game 1 of the series on Monday night.
