The Phillies and Padres pulled off significant upsets to reach this point, but it was the road team that continued their postseason success last night. It was a close, low-scoring affair, but Philly pulled off the 2-0 upset. They’re slight underdogs again tonight, and they won’t be quite as dominant pitching on the mound. With there likely to be a bit more action in Game 2, let’s see how it should play out. Along with this Same Game Parlay, be sure to check out our MLB predictions for all of the upcoming postseason games.

Phillies -1.5 (+170)

Alec Bohm 2+ total bases (+130)

Parlay odds: +370

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (+170) over San Diego Padres

Despite the Padres having ace Yu Darvish on the mound, the Phillies were still able to steal Game 1 in San Diego. While the 2-0 win barely covered the run line, there’s reason to believe the Phillies should be able to score more tonight. They’ll be facing Padres starter Blake Snell, which is a much more advantageous matchup for them.

Snell is a lefty, and Philly ended the regular season with the 4th-highest OPS against lefties. They reached that mark while facing aces such as the Braves’ Max Fried, and Snell is far from that standard. He’s much more inconsistent and did not pitch well against the Phillies earlier this summer. Snell allowed 4 runs in 5.2 innings in a multi-run win for Philly. Better yet, that game was also in San Diego.

Phillies starter Aaron Nola has been incredible this postseason. He didn’t allow a single run across either of his starts against the Cardinals and Braves, which spanned 12.2 innings. Nola was also dominant against the Padres earlier this season. It was just 1 day prior to Snell’s loss and Nola pitched 7.0 innings and allowed just a single run while striking out 10 batters. It’s tough to win back-to-back road games in the postseason, but this Phillies team has already been defying all odds.

Alec Bohm 2+ total bases (+130)

With all of the star names in the Phillies’ lineup, this play may seem surprising. However, there’s great value on Philly’s third baseman. After Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper homered last night, it’s Bohm’s turn to shine. He finished the season with the 4th-most total bases on the team, despite missing 10 games.

However, this play is primarily about Bohm’s ability to hit lefties. He should have his way with Snell with how well he’s hit them this season. His .352 average is the best on the team for anyone with at least 20 at-bats, and he has 80 of them. Of those, he’s recorded 17 doubles, 2 triples and 3 homers. That’s good for a .541 slugging percentage, which is exactly what we’re looking for with this prop. Hits may have been hard to come by last night, but tonight’s matchup is much more favorable, especially for Bohm.
