The MLB season is officially in full swing, and it’s been long enough for us to more or less know where things stand. We have a nice big slate on Sunday, and we’ve got a fun NL clash here between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs. It should be a great one between two of the league’s most storied franchises, broadcasted by ESPN for Sunday Night Baseball.

What better way to celebrate a nationally televised game than by betting a same game parlay? We’ve also got thoughts on the side and total, which you can find out in our full game preview.

I just cashed one of my most recent MLB SGPs at 10/1 last weekend, let’s do it again this weekend!

Los Angeles Dodgers -2.5 (+156)

Clayton Kershaw 9+ strikeouts (+160)

Over 7.5 (-134)

Parlay odds: +1025

We have a three-leg parlay here, one which pays out just north of 10/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break it down:

Los Angeles Dodgers -2.5 (+156)

The Dodgers had a tough series against the Padres, but they bounced back with wins on Friday and Saturday in this one. They’ve got plenty of momentum entering tonight after Cody Bellinger’s walk-off home run Saturday. Right before the San Diego series they had won 10 of 12, so I was never too concerned. They have a big edge on the mound here, with ace Clayton Kershaw facing off against Adbert Alzolay.

Kershaw’s 3.43 ERA might not jump off the page, but his 1.01 WHIP shows he’s been even better than that. Outside of a few rough starts, he’s been fantastic. Chicago has been held to two runs or fewer in 10 of their past 13 games, so I think he’ll be just fine here.

Clayton Kershaw 9+ strikeouts (+160)

Kershaw certainly hasn’t lost a step in the strikeout department. He may have been in the big leagues with the Dodgers since 2008, but it doesn’t seem like it. In fact, his strikeout rate is actually up somewhat significantly from the past couple seasons. In three of his last four starts he’s gotten to nine punch-outs, so getting this much plus-money is attractive. You’ve also got to consider that this Cubs team strikes out *a lot*. They just let Dodgers starter Julio Urias rack up 12 strikeouts in only 5 and 1/3 innings on Saturday. Chicago is fourth in MLB in strikeouts as a team.

Over 7.5 (-134)

The Dodgers’ offense is poised for success here. Alzolay is nothing to be afraid of, and he still only has 18 big league starts under his belt. In his last two outings, he’s given up seven earned runs in only 7 and 2/3 innings. Los Angeles’ offensive upside is still sky-high, and they could easily send this over by themselves. Kershaw has been solid but certainly not untouchable this season, so the Cubs should be able to plate at least a couple. Since this total is so low we won’t need much production from Chicago anyway, something like the 6-2 result we saw on Friday would suffice.
