Chicago Bulls -3.5 alt. point spread (+230)

Just a game after ending Brooklyn’s 12-game win streak, the Bulls now have an opportunity to end a long streak of their own. They’ve lost 12 in a row against the 76ers, but tonight’s game could be their best opportunity to end that run in years. Joel Embiid is expected to miss another game with his foot injury that caused him to miss the game against Indiana. Philadelphia pulled that win out by a miracle in OT, however they could have issues in tonight’s game. Whenever you get a player like Tyrese Maxey back from injury it has the potential to mess up a team’s chemistry. They got away with it against Indiana, but against a Bulls side that’s 6-3 SU over their last 9 games it won’t be easy. The Bulls have also been able to cover in 6 of their last 8 against East teams, and other than Alex Caruso, who is questionable, they will be at full strength. It’s time for the long losing streak to finally end.

DeMar DeRozan to score 25+ points (-135)

With a pair of 40-point games in his last 5 outings and an average of 28.8 points over his last 10, DeMar DeRozan has been the main driving force behind the recent surge by the Bulls. He was a point short of this line in the first meeting of the season when he had 24, however he will be encouraged by his shooting percentages entering tonight’s game. He shot 58% from the field and 50% from three in that game and generally the Bulls rely far more on him on the road than at home. Believe it or not, DeMar averages 29.2 points per game away from home, while at the United Center he’s at 23.9 per game. No Joel Embiid to guard the paint also helps him tremendously, as he isn’t your typical modern NBA shooting guard that relies on the three-ball a lot. Instead, DeRozan scores a good portion of his points from up close and the mid-range. I think he’s in for another 30-point game, but let’s play it a bit safer and back him to score 25 against Philly.

Tyrese Maxey to score 20+ points (-190)

The Sixers will need another player to step up with the absence of their top scorer. It will be only Maxey’s third game since returning from injury, but he has upped his production in each game so far. He provided a spark for the Sixers in the win over Indiana, scoring 17 points while taking 16 shots from the field. A total of 7 Philly players scored in double-figures in that game, a similar effort is expected tonight as they have to make up for the 36 points per game the big man Embiid averages at home. Maxey has done well at Wells Fargo Center this season, averaging 19.9 points per game. Chicago’s 3-point defense is a disaster this season. They allow 37.2% of shots made from the perimeter which is the 2nd-worst mark in the entire league. I expect Maxey to let it fly from distance, and getting to 20 points shouldn’t be too hard.
