Sure this doesn’t require quite as much popcorn as it would if Kevin Durant was good to go (he is out because of a Covid-19 close contact), but the Philadelphia 76ers vs. the Brooklyn Nets is just about as good as it gets on Thursday’s NBA schedule. It’s close to must-see television for sports fans (beginning Thursday’s TNT double-header), especially considering the NFL playoffs are here and therefore there is no Thursday Night Football. Philadelphia is leading the entire league at 7-1 and Brooklyn could really use a win here, already three games back in the Eastern Conference standings at 4-4.

Let’s take a look at our same game parlay for this showdown, and be sure to check out our full preview of the game for picks on the side and total.

Nets ML (+106)

Joe Harris Over 2.5 three-pointers made (+134)

Joel Embiid Under 25.5 points (-102)

Seth Curry Over 14.5 points (-112)

Parlay odds: +1350

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is much of the plan here, as we feel good about the Nets chances in this one with Philadelphia playing the second game of a back-to-back situation. Brooklyn has good shot at getting the job done if Joe Harris is on the mark from long range and it manages to keep Philly big man Joel Embiid in check. At the same time, the value of a same game parlay is driven up when plays aren’t correlated. That is the case with Sixers guard Seth Curry tipped to put up some big numbers. But there is no reason why the Nets can’t win even if Curry is cooking just a bit.

Nets ML (+106)

Philadelphia is playing the second game of a back-to-back situation. It looks like Joel Embiid will play (which is not always the case in these scenarios), but the 76ers are going to be gassed. Wednesday’s 141-136 victory over Washington also marked the first of a ridiculous eight games in the span of 12 days, so they are not going to be doing anything crazy in terms of minutes for Embiid and Tobias Harris (they logged 37 and 41, respectively, against the Wizards). Meanwhile, we just saw that the Nets are more than capable of winning even when Durant doesn’t play, as they just humiliated the Jazz 130-96 sans Durant on Tuesday. Kyrie Irving (29 points on 12-for-19 shooting) and Caris LeVert (24 points on 9-for-18 shooting) picked up the slack along with three others in double-figures.

Joe Harris Over 2.5 three-pointers made (+134)

Harris has always been lethal from the land of plenty, but he has been especially sharp so far in 2020-21. The former Virginia standout is 23-for-45 this season and has drained multiple triples in all eight games. In other words, he is a lock to get two; it doesn’t take that much more of an effort to hit a third. With Durant out, Harris will play a slightly bigger role for Brooklyn. Look for him to shoot a lot in this one—and obviously make a lot, too.

Joel Embiid Under 25.5 points (-102)

As mentioned above, it’s hard to see Embiid being given a massive workload on Thursday—even if this game goes down to the wire. The seventh year big man out of Kansas erupted on Wednesday with 38 points, but he previously had not reached the 30-point mark this entire season. His three most recent point totals prior to yesterday’s impressive outing were 14, 19, and 21. It is also worth noting that the Nets have some solid low-post defenders in Jarrett Allen and DeAndre Jordan.

Seth Curry Over 14.5 points (-112)

Curry exceeded the 20-point mark for the third time in the past four games when he delivered 28 during Wednesday’s shootout victory over Washington. He has scored at least 17 in five of Philadelphia’s last seven outings. The younger Curry brother has been absolutely unconscious from three-point land this season. He is 19-for-35, including 18-for-30 in the last seven games.
