We have a full 15-game slate as the first weekend of the 2022 Major League Baseball season wraps up on Sunday. It is headlined in appropriate fashion, with the Game of the Week on ESPN between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. Here is a look at the best same game parlay option for Sox-Yanks in primetime, and also be sure to check out our full game preview for free picks on the side and total.

New York Yankees -1.5 (+136)

Giancarlo Stanton to record an RBI (+130)

Xander Bogaerts to hit a home run (+430)

Parlay odds: +3137

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is some of the plan here, as Giancarlo Stanton driving in at least one run would work well with both a New York win and cover. At the same time, plays that aren’t correlated drive up the overall payout of the parlay. That is the case with backing Xander Bogaerts to hit a home run. But even if Bogaerts does, there is no reason why the Yankees can’t take care of business. Let’s break down each of the three legs one by one.

New York Yankees -1.5 (+136)

Through their first 2 games, everything seems to be clicking for the Yankees while nothing is going according to plan for the Red Sox. Anthony Rizzo and Giancarlo Stanton have each homered in their first 2 games, with Stanton going deep in 6 straight games against the Sox dating back to 2021. Any early questions over the Yankees’ bullpen have been answered for now after they combined for a 6-inning no-hitter to close out game 2. Questions about the strength of this Red Sox lineup may have been answered for now, as well (and not in a good way!), after the bottom third of the batting order went a combined 0-for-11 and left 11 runners stranded. The Red Sox will need more from the bottom half if they want to start winning some baseball games. At the end of the day, it’s probably going to come down to the team with the better bullpen and more offensive firepower. That team is the Yankees.

Giancarlo Stanton to record an RBI (+130)

Stanton has homered in each of the first 2 games this season, so getting him at +280 to go deep again could also be an enticing play. However, a more conservative bet on him to simply drive in at least one run may have even better value. After all, Stanton is hitting cleanup in the Yankees’ batting order behind Josh Donaldson, Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo. The 32-year-old may probably won’t have to leave the yard or even produce any kind of extra-base hit in order to record an RBI when you consider the fact that Donaldson, Judge and Rizzo could be on the basepaths early and often. All 3 of those guys delivered hits in each of the first 2 contests. In fact, Donaldson and Judge each had 2 in the season opener. With the way the top 4 guys in New York’s lineup are swinging the bat right now, Stanton should have no trouble driving in at least 1 on Sunday Night Baseball.

Xander Bogaerts to hit a home run (+430)

Bogaerts is batting .462 in 26 lifetime at-bats against Montgomery. The star shortstop simply owns this matchup. He is also 3-for-8 so far this season. Meanwhile, Montgomery served up 19 home runs during the 2021 campaign. All things considered, Bogaerts has a good chance to go deep in this lefty-vs-righty matchup.
