We have a full 15-game slate as the first weekend of the 2022 Major League Baseball season gets underway on Saturday. The action is headlined by another chapter of the Boston Red Sox-New York Yankees rivalry, set for 4:00 pm ET on FS1. Here is a look at the best same game parlay option for Sox-Yanks, and also be sure to check out our full game preview for picks on the side and total.

Boston Red Sox -1.5 alternate run line (+220)

Over 10.5 alternate total (+132)

JD Martinez to record an RBI (+140)

Parlay odds: +933

Part of the value in same game parlays, of course, is that all of its components can be correlated if you so choose. That is the entire plan here, as JD Martinez driving in at least one run would work well with both a Red Sox win and a successful over. Let’s break down each of the three legs.

Boston Red Sox -1.5 alternate run line (+220)

Following a rainout on Thursday, the Yankees and Red Sox delivered a great pseudo Opening Day game on Friday – with the Bronx Bombers prevailing 6-5 in extra innings. Don’t be surprised if the visitors exact revenge in game 2 of the series. After the Red Sox beat the Yankees in the 2021 playoffs and came within 2 games of the World Series last year, they improved further in the offseason. This solid Boston lineup will face a starting pitcher in Luis Severino who has thrown all of 18.0 innings since 2018. Severino can rehab and spot start all he can, but the only way to get back into a groove in the big leagues is to take the bump every 5 days. He has his work cut out for him against Boston in his first start since 2019. Nick Pivetta will take the mound for the Red Sox as a relative unknown to the current New York squad. The Yankees’ expected lineup for Saturday is just a combined 3-for-15 lifetime against Pivetta.

Over 10.5 alternate total (+132)

The first matchup between these teams went over, as 5 runs were scored in the first inning and the game went into extras. Severino is a huge question mark based on his lack of innings in the past 3 years. Look for Boston’s capable lineup to take advantage of his rusty form and generate plenty of offense. If the Sox can get on the board early, it will force the Yankees to play catch-up. New York also boasts a potent lineup capable of manufacturing runs, so it should start finding at least some success against Pivetta. This contest should produce just as many runs as the opener.

JD Martinez to record an RBI (+140)

JD Martinez knocked in a run on Friday and he can be expected to do the same in this one. Nobody in Boston’s current lineup has been as successful against Severino. The designated hitter is 7-for-18 in his career in this head-to-head matchup (.389) with a pair of doubles. Keep in mind that Martinez is batting behind Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts, who combined for 4 hits in the opener. With Severino rusty as well, all signs point to Martinez manufacturing a run – and maybe several.
