College Basketball pick today: Kent State Golden Flashes +19.5 over Houston Cougars (-110), 2:30 pm ET

The Kent State Golden Flashes head to Houston to face the Cougars this afternoon. In many ways, this game is hard to judge. Kent State has not played a Power 5 school yet this season, but they have comfortably handled all but Charleston. Houston has not played a ranked opponent yet, and only one Power 5 team. Houston is certainly not a pretender, but are they 20 points better than everyone they face? Kent State is projected at the top of the MAC, and they return MAC player of the year Sincere Carry to lead the way.

This game is a good measuring stick for both clubs. There are probably a couple of good ways to play this game, as Houston games routinely hit the under. However, backing Kent State looks to be the best option. The Golden Flashes are a good scoring team, and they can keep from getting blown off the floor by a better Cougars team. Houston wins, and probably comfortably, but backing the Golden Flashes to keep it under 20 will be the play.

College Football pick today: Wake Forest Demon Deacons -3.5 over Duke Blue Devils (+100), 3:30 pm ET

In the final week of the regular season, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will travel to Durham, North Carolina to take on the Duke Blue Devils. Wake Forest is 7-4, but some may consider it a disappointing season for the Deacs, who had ambitions of winning the ACC this year. Duke sports that same 7-4 record, but it is hardly a disappointing season for the Blue Devils considering they have not won 7 games since 2018.

Duke has certainly surpassed expectations this season, but there are concerns about the Blue Devils matching the scoring of Sam Hartman and the Demon Deacons. The Deacs have a top-15 offense with a strong passing attack that will likely shred Duke’s defense that is poor against the pass. Wake Forest’s defense can certainly be a liability, but it is better against the run than the pass – which bodes well against a run-first Duke offense. For that reason, backing Wake Forest to cover will be the play.

NBA pick today: Los Angeles Lakers -3 over San Antonio Spurs (-110), 8:10 pm ET

The Los Angeles overcame the San Antonio Spurs on the road 105-94, cashing our best bet of the day in the process. The sides will be running things back in San Antonio tonight with an immediate rematch.

The Spurs offense is likely to be limited here tonight. They rank 28th in the league in offensive rating and will not be helped by the fact that the Lakers are 6th defensively. The sides have played twice this season with the Spurs managing points totals of 92 and 94 points. The Spurs are also 27th in the league in true shooting percentage. Until they prove that they can break down this Lakers defense, backing the Lakers to cover will be the play.

NHL pick today: Vancouver Canucks vs Vegas Golden Knights – Over 6.5 goals (-110), 10:00 pm ET

The most recent meeting between these 2 teams back on Monday night was a 5-4 game won by Vegas, and the Knights can take advantage of the Canucks again tonight. Vancouver has not been nearly as stout defensively as they were last season. That includes goaltender Thatcher Demko, and the team has now allowed the 3rd-most goals per game.

Given that Vegas has scored the 5th-most goals per game, they will likely do the majority of the damage. For more confidence in this play, the Canucks goaltending has been even worse on the road. They have ballooned to a terrible 4.17 goals allowed per game. For that reason, backing the over will be the play.
