EPL pick today: Newcastle ML over Bournemouth (-170), 12:30 pm ET
Bournemouth stood firm until the 87th minute of last week’s EPL game at in-form Brighton but Kaoru Mitoma’s late goal condemned the Cherries to a 5th loss without scoring a goal in their last 6 league games. As for Newcastle, allowing 2 goals in 2 games is virtually a defensive crisis, as they had posted 10 shutouts in their previous 11 games in all competitions. That run included a 1-0 EFL Cup win over Bournemouth at St James’ Park just before Christmas and Newcastle should be backed to make amends for September’s 1-1 tie at home to the Cherries.

College Basketball pick today: Virginia Cavaliers -5.5 over Duke Blue Devils (-120), 4:00 pm ET
Virginia has played at a high level this season holding a 18-4 overall record and a 10-3 conference record. They are ranked #8 in the latest AP Top 25 polls and have just one home loss which came to Houston back on December 17. On the other side, Duke’s offense has not been good this year and they will struggle to score here on Virginia’s elite defense. According to KenPom, Duke’s offense is ranked #262 in 3-point percentage, #232 in effective field goal percentage, and #218 in turnover percentage. For that reason, backing the Cavaliers to cover will be the play.

College Basketball pick today: Kansas State Wildcats -1.5 over Texas Tech Red Raiders (-104), 7:00 pm ET
Kansas State heads to Lubbock tonight to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Kansas State took a couple of recent losses, one at Kansas and one at home to Texas, but they have otherwise been quite good. They sit in the log jam of teams one game behind Texas in the Big 12 standings. Texas Tech, meanwhile, is 1-10 in conference play, and while they could still be considered a good team, backing the Wildcats will be the play to cover.

NHL pick today: Los Angeles Kings vs Pittsburgh Penguins – Over 6.5 goals (-110), 10:37 pm ET
Both teams have really struggled to keep the puck out of their own net and they won’t magically figure it out tonight. The Penguins are playing their second game in as many nights and the Kings are playing their first game since the All-Star break. Los Angeles is also coming out of the break ranked 24th in goals against per game and 27th on the power play. For that reason, backing the over will be the play.
