Let’s break down each of these plays.
NFL pick today: Los Angeles Chargers -6 over Houston Texans (-110), 1:00 pm ET
As competitive as the Texans have looked during their first three games, you have to take into account the level of play of their opponents. The Colts looked like a disaster in Week 1 and have been struggling with key injuries on defense. Both the Broncos and Bears are a hot mess on both sides of the ball and Houston failed to beat either team.
The Chargers’ defense on the other hand, is one of the best in the league despite the fact that they crumbled to Jacksonville. Offensively, Justin Herbert is another week into the healing process and Austin Ekeler is looking to jump-start his season against a defense that ranks dead last against the run. For that reason, backing the Chargers to rebound against the Texans will be the play.

MLB pick today: Philadelphia Phillies vs Washington Nationals – Over 7.5 runs (+100), 1:35 pm ET
With Patrick Corbin on the mound for Washington, this total would more than likely be upwards of 10 if not for the poor weather. Despite the conditions not being as great as they normally are at Nationals Stadium, Corbin truly has been that bad.
All it takes is looking at his past performances against the Phillies. The worst of those were losses by final scores of 10-1 and 11-5, demonstrating that the Phillies have the ability to cover this total themselves. Although the weather may affect the long ball, keep in mind that Philly had 12 hits against him the last time they faced him. They can easily small ball the Nats to death on their way to another double-digit total, therefore backing the over will be the play.

NFL pick today: Las Vegas Raiders -2.5 over Denver Broncos (-110), 4:25 pm ET
The Las Vegas Raiders are the NFL’s only 0-3 team, but they still find themselves as modest favorites for this Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos. All of their losses have been by 6 or fewer points, while the Broncos are very lucky to be 2-1.
This is the last stand for the Raiders, and in their only previous home game this season they led virtually the entire way against the Cardinals before collapsing late and losing in overtime. Denver’s passing game has no rhythm right now, therefore backing the Raider to pick up their first win while also covering will be the play.
