We went close to a sweep with our Dog House underdog picks last week, as 2 of our 3 +5.5-point plays (the Cardinals and Cowboys) covered, while the Seahawks gave us a great run at New Orleans but lost by 7 after some Taysom Hill madness. We’re aiming to have a kennel full of ‘dogs barking this week, so let’s see which underdog teams we think can claw their way to a cover on Sunday’s 12-game slate.

With bye weeks starting this week, there aren’t as many favorites available to fade — but we will again target those who might just be overrated.

Let’s take a look at our best underdog bets for Week 6 of the 2022 NFL season.

We have NFL picks for every game on the Week 6 slate

New York Giants +6 (-110) over Baltimore Ravens

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook & BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing

We are taking on some strong teams in the Ravens, Bills and Eagles this week, but our chosen ‘dogs — the Giants, Chiefs and Cowboys — are not exactly bottom-feeders. In fact our underdogs have a combined 12-3 record (they’re all 4-1 teams) and the opposing teams have exactly the same 12-3 mark between them. At 3-2, the Ravens have the worst record of all 6 teams — although there is no denying they might easily have won both of the games they lost against the Dolphins and Bills. They did lose those games, though, and their home win over the Bengals was by a margin of only 2 points, too.

Now they are heading to MetLife Stadium to face a pumped-up home crowd that is no doubt giddy at the unexpectedly strong start the G-Men have made under Brian Daboll. Wins over the Titans and Packers are not easily come by, and even the Giants’ defeat, to Dallas, was by only 1 point more than this spread. The Ravens may well win, but even if they do it could well be by fewer than 6 points. That is also the belief of Andrew Ortenberg, who makes the Giants a 3-star spread play in our full Ravens vs Giants predictions.

Kansas City Chiefs +3 (-115) over Buffalo Bills

Odds available at PointsBet Sportsbook at time of publishing

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this week’s big game and until Sunday night we won’t be saying anyone is wrong! While Howard Bender is keen on the offensive power of the Bills in our main Bills vs Chiefs predictions, Ricky Dimon is keen to have the chance to back the Chiefs as home underdogs, adding them as a money line pick in our millionaire maker parlay. I also find that opportunity hard to turn down, especially in a week when there are a host of underdogs that make very little appeal at the available lines (I’m looking at you, Saints, Panthers and Steelers!).

I have the Bills rated as the best team in the league and the Chiefs at #2 (sorry, NFC fans), but not so far ahead that I can have the Bills giving up a full 3 points to the Chiefs on the road. After the TNF atrocities of the last 2 weeks, NFL fans deserve a treat; let’s hope this game provides it.

Dallas Cowboys +6.5 (-107) over Philadelphia Eagles

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing

It’s not always wise to go back to the well after a winning bet, but the Cowboys certainly deserve to stay in Team Dog House following their impressive 22-10 win over the Rams — their 4th straight victory. Their reward for that upset was to be made even bigger underdogs for Sunday night’s NFC East showdown against the unbeaten Eagles, and that just seems too much of a start.

The Eagles have made a dream start for head coach Nick Sirianni, but they’ve not exactly been taking on the NFL’s elite teams to this point, with a win over the Vikings being their best performance. In contrast, the Cowboys have already beaten both of last season’s Super Bowl teams with a backup quarterback starting, and they are getting a 6.5-point start. That offer is the kind of juicy bone any ravenous dawg would want to sink its teeth into.
