I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. It’s finally Saturday, and that means NHL action throughout the day. We have two afternoon games to get us prepared for 10 more in the evening, so there is set to be non-stop excitement on the ice. It’s a big slate to go through, but we’re here to help with that. In addition to any money line and over/under plays you have, I’ve picked out my favorite NHL prop bet picks. The first one is in the first game of the day, so let’s not waste any time breaking it down.

Along with our best NHL player props, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Dylan Larkin over 0.5 goals (+155)

Odds available at time of publishing. Playable to +135.

The first puck drop of Saturday’s slate will be in the Motor City with the Detroit Red Wings hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Wings are off to their best start in quite some time, and that is largely due to their increased offensive production after adding Alex DeBrincat in the offseason. I’d also consider adding him to score, as it came down to him and Larkin. Ultimately, I’m going to stick with the guy who is itching to find the back of the net.

DeBrincat has come in and led the team in goals thus far, but Larkin does not want to be overshadowed. He has already sent out 12 helpers, but he’s been firing away to add more goals to his stat sheet. In Detroit’s last 3 games, he’s had 5 shots on goal twice and 6 in the other. In the 6-shot game, he recorded 2 points, one of which was a goal. What makes that much more impressive is that it came against the Boston Bruins, the top goaltending team in the NHL. Now facing the poor goaltending team in the Jackets, I’ll take Larkin to score a goal.

Connor McDavid over 0.5 goals (+105)

Odds available at time of publishing. Playable to -110.

Where to start when it comes to the Edmonton Oilers? You’d be hard-pressed to find a fan, even in Edmonton, who wouldn’t say that they’re the biggest disappointment of the NHL thus far. Sure, the San Jose Sharks started 0-10-1, but they weren’t expected to be great. Not only that, but the Oilers’ most recent game was a loss to those Sharks! Now, Connor McDavid hasn’t been on the ice for every game, but it’s been ugly nonetheless. Even still, if there’s ever a time for the world’s best skater to bounce back, it’s tonight.

After the embarrassing loss to San Jose, he should be as motivated as ever, and he has thrived against the Seattle Kraken. They haven’t been a franchise for long, so McDavid has only 7 career games against them, but they’ve been impressive. He’s now scored a goal in 6 straight games against Seattle. So, I’d normally focus on his point prop, and feel free to do so in addition to this play, but I’m looking for him to find the net tonight. Ultimately, it should be more like a 1-goal, 2-assist type of night for McDavid, but I’ll take the value on just his goalscoring market.
