Good morning, Pickswise Nation, and welcome to another terrific Tuesday of sports. Today’s schedule features a massive MLB slate and more compelling tennis at the U.S. Open, so let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Down goes Clemson
The last couple of seasons have been near-disastrous for a program with Clemson’s lofty standards, and the program reached a new low point on Monday as the Tigers were routed 28-7 by Duke in front of a raucous crowd at Wallace Wade Stadium. Cade Klubnik looked very shaky and Clemson had multiple turnovers in the red zone, which ultimately led to 14 Duke points. Florida State is now the odds-on favorite in the ACC after this result, which bodes well for our National Championship futures.

Marathon night match in New York
The US Open rolled on with another day of compelling action on Monday and it was highlighted by a tremendous late-night match on Arthur Ashe Stadium, as Alexander Zverev knocked off Jannik Sinner in a 5-set marathon match that spanned nearly 5 hours on court. Zverev will now take on top seed Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, opposite a matchup between Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev in the other quarterfinal on that day.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees: NRFI (-120)
7:05 pm ET

Last week, I targeted the NRFI in this exact matchup and I’ll be going back to the well with this NRFI selection in New York. The Yankees offense has been mired in mediocrity all season long, and while New York should have Aaron Judge in the lineup, that shouldn’t faze Alex Faedo, who has been rock-solid since coming out of the all-star break. The Tigers starter has lowered his ERA over 2 full points since July 23, allowing a total of 8 earned runs in 26 innings pitched. On the other side, Gerrit Cole has had a terrific season for New York and the veteran right-hander should view this matchup as another chance to shine. Check out today’s YRFI/NRFI best bets.
