Good morning Pickswise Nation and welcome to Wise n’ Shine, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know to bet better today!

More MLB playoff issues are being decided every day now and we also have NFL Thursday Night Football as the 2-1 Cincinnati Bengals take on the 0-3 Jacksonville Jaguars, featuring the last two No. 1 overall draft picks, Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence. Let’s get straight to it!

About Last Night

Braves on the brink, Mariners eliminate Athletics
Playoff places continue to be taken off the table in the MLB. A 7-2 win for the Braves over the Phillies took them to the brink of the NL East title and a win today would seal it. The American League wild-card race remains red-hot, with the Mariners eliminating the Athletics by beating them 4-2 yesterday, leaving 4 teams with between 88 and 90 wins. The Giants and Dodgers both won, keeping San Francisco 2 games ahead in the NL West, while the Cardinals’ 17-game winning streak was snapped by the Brewers. Our MLB Best Bet (Dodgers -1.5) and John Hyslop’s top player prop (Alex Wood over 4.5 strikeouts) both cashed, so we’re finding the winners right to the end of the regular season. You can check out today’s MLB picks here.

Today’s Slate

No. 1 QBs clash on TNF
2020 No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow leads the Cincinnati Bengals against 2021 first-choice Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars tonight (NFL Network, 8:20pm). Both players have had rough introductions to the NFL but things are going much better for Burrow and his 2-1 team this year. Check out our same game parlay (+1816 odds!) and our best prop bets for tonight’s game. You can also find out how to claim the best free bet offers and promotions on the Thursday primetime game.

Virginia battles Miami in college football showdown
Around an hour before TNF gets underway, the Virginia Cavaliers meet the Miami Hurricanes with both teams looking to build some momentum. Miami’s QB situation is still in flux after D’Eriq King missed last week’s game with a shoulder injury — can Virginia take advantage? Read our preview for Virginia vs Miami.

Crucial games in MLB playoff race
The Yankees face the Blue Jays on ESPN+ at 7:07pm ET tonight as part of Thursday’s 12-game schedule. Both teams are in that intense American League wild-card battle, so it should be a good one. The Braves can clinch the NL East with another win over the Phillies. Read our full preview of that game here.

Best Bet of the Day

Cincinnati Bengals -7 vs Jacksonville Jaguars
8:20pm ET, NFL Network

Cincinnati has got off to a solid start with eye-catching wins over the Vikings and Steelers, thanks largely to the rapport of reunited LSU alumni Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase. Rookie receiver Chase has already hooked up with his quarterback to score 4 touchdowns in 3 games, and they are expected to flourish under the Thursday night lights. Read our full preview for tonight’s game here.
