WNBA Midweek Best Bets: Fever and Dream battle in Atlanta

Atlanta Dream's forward Elizabeth Williams drives on Dallas Wing's forward Isabelle Harrison.

WNBA best bets highlight Tuesday night’s showdown in Atlanta against the Fever and Dream, while the Liberty visit the Sun in the northeast on Wednesday. We have our favorite picks for those two match-ups. Let’s get started!

Indiana Fever at Atlanta Dream prediction: 1H over 76.5 (-112)

These teams meet for a third and final time as the regular season nears a close for both squads. The series is currently tied at 1-1, with the home team losing each time.

I don’t expect a great game between these teams as they battle it out to not be the worst in the league. Tonight’s match-up is in Atlanta, where the Dream shot 7% from behind the arc and an unsettling 65% from the stripe last time out against the Fever at home. I’m not sure those percentages can get any worse. Both teams are in the top 5 in the WNBA for fast-break points, while the Dream is top 4 in pace of play. Lastly, the Dream lead the league in shots attempted per game, however neither team shoots the ball particularly well. I am going to side with the over in the first half as I think there are going to be a lot of transition buckets in the game.

WNBA Wednesday (New York Liberty at Connecticut Sun)

The odds don’t come out for the WNBA until the day off, but looking ahead to tomorrow’s game, here is what I like.

While Connecticut has nothing left to prove as they have utterly dominated the 2nd half of the season – and recently clinched the overall number 1 seed – the Liberty are still fighting for a playoff opportunity. New York is currently on a 7-game losing streak (yes, you read that right), after dropping a heart-breaker to Dallas by 1. In addition to the losing streak, the Liberty have only 1 win in their last 10 outings.

On the other hand, the Sun have only given up more than 70 points 3 times while on their 12-game winning streak. Connecticut is currently 2-0 against the Liberty and allowed only 64 and 54 points, respectively. The lockdown defense by Sun guards Jasmine Thomas and Briann January have certainly created buzz around the league as it wears and tears at opponents throughout the game. New York is going to have difficulty scoring and could struggle to even reach 70 points.
