Rams vs Ravens Pickswise Expert Predictions

Los Angeles Rams
Point Spread Pick
LA Rams Win -7.0(-110)

It looks like the Baltimore Ravens will once again be without Lamar Jackson here as they look to stop their slide and stem the bleeding against the Los Angeles Rams. For several reasons, I don’t expect that to happen. Cooper Rush looked woefully in over his head last week as Baltimore got pummeled by a mediocre Houston team, and it’s quite clear that Jackson was the glue that was holding together a ship that was leaking heavily. The defense is just as big of a problem as the offense, most recently getting torched by a Texans team that had been struggling to move the ball previously.

Jackson is far from the only significant injury they’re dealing with either as Chidobe Awuzie and Roquan Smith, two key pieces of the defense, have both been ruled out for this one and Zay Flowers is questionable. Rush is coming off a 3 interception disaster, and I haven’t even gotten to how good the Rams have been playing recently. Los Angeles is 3-2, but they’re inches away from being 5-0. Their only two losses came to the Eagles on a blocked kick return touchdown on the final play of the game, and to the 49ers in overtime by a field goal.

Matthew Stafford is once again playing at an elite level, most recently throwing for 389 yards and 3 touchdowns, and the week before that he threw for 375. In other words, the old guy’s still got it. The last time Los Angeles was a big favorite they went out and took care of business by beating the Titans by 14 on the road, and I expect them to take care of business again here.

I don’t feel great taking the over in a game involving Cooper Rush, but that’s what I have to do here. The Rams look like they’re going to be playing in a lot of shootouts this year, as Matthew Stafford looks as good as he ever as while their defense has been somewhat of a sieve. Last week they let Mac Jones score 26 on them, and they also let the sputtering Eagles’ offense have their best game of the season against them.

Rush isn’t as bad as he played last week, and he had a 12/5 TD/INT ratio during his action with the Cowboys last year. I think he’ll do just enough to help send this one over, since I expect the Rams to be scoring mostly at will. Baltimore’s defense has been a huge disappointment, and Roquan Smith and Chidobe Awuzie have both been ruled out for this one. Incredibly, the Ravens have given up at least 37 points in 4 of their 5 games. That’s hard to do, and the only team they’ve held to less than 37 this season was the Browns.

Over 44.5 at publishing.
