Super Bowl Betting Odds Explained

The Super Bowl for NFL fans is a date in the diary each year, with over 100 million tuning in for the big game. An increasing number of sports fans also like to place a wager on the big game, and with the magnitude of the event, sportsbooks put a lot of time and attention into their Super Bowl betting odds. An average NFL already has a large number of different betting odds available to sports bettors, but the Super Bowl takes it to another level. With your regular betting markers such as Moneyline, Against the Spread, and Points Totals all covered, there are also a whole host of Super Bowl Prop Bets to wager on, as well as an increasingly popular market in the Super Bowl Same Game Parlay, which will be offered by a select few sportsbooks such as FanDuel, PointsBet, and BetMGM. Whatever type of bettor you are, the Super Bowl betting odds will have something for you, to enhance your viewing pleasure, be it the game, the Halftime Show, or the National Anthem, there are Super Bowl betting odds for it all.

Best Super Bowl 56 Betting Trends

There are so many Super Bowl markets, statistics, and things to consider before wagering the Super Bowl, so our expert handicappers who lean of decades of NFL handicapping and Super Bowl handicapping experience have pulled together some of the key Super Bowl 55 betting trends to consider before placing those bets. Check out our Super Bowl Predictions page along with our Super Bowl Prop Bets for our expert analysis and how we see some of these trends faring in 2021.

1. The over/under is 27-27 all-time in the Super Bowl

If you’re looking for a blanket trend about whether Super Bowl points totals are usually higher or lower than the spread, you’re unfortunately not going to find it. The over/under has been even historically, showing just how precise oddsmakers can be.  The last three Super Bowls have seen the under hit, will we see oddsmakers set a lower line in 2022?

2. Points Totals above 50 – History Says take The Under

Seeing Over 50 points is not unusual in the fast-paced modern game but the Super Bowl is still the Super Bowl, nerves, tension and the occasion all play into the narrative and how the game plays out. In the last 20 years, only 8 Super Bowls have kicked off with a Points Total Line of over 50, and six of those have seen the under hit (a 75% strike-rate)  history tells us to take the under when the total is north of 50.

Online Betting Super Bowl 2022

The Super Bowl has long been an event and tradition like no other. With the record viewing figures, it’s something that even non-football fans will catch themselves watching every February and with this, and the fairly recent legalization of online sports wagering, the Super Bowl has quickly become the most popular sports betting event of the year. Over $13 billion has been wagered on the two Super Bowls since the legalization of sports betting, with the vast majority of that figure coming through Super Bowl online betting. Super Bowl Live Betting

Live betting during sports is an increasingly popular way to get involved in a game and readily available during the Super Bowl at all major sportsbooks. We’ve all been there, watching a game and thinking this is going to happen, I wonder what odds this guy is to score next, and thanks to live betting, we can now find out and profit from it.

During any given NFL game, including the Super Bowl itself there will be a number of live betting markets available to wager on. These markets will vary slightly from sportsbook to sportsbook, but all of the main markets will be covered, such as Moneyline, points total, spreads, and player and team prop best such as Anytime Touchdown Scorer or Next Touchdown Scorer.

These lines and odds are dynamic and change as the action on the field unfolds. Say the favorite at the start of the match find themselves down 10-0 early you can wager them to win at much better odds, and a much more favorable spread if you think they can still get the job done and turn the tables.

The betting line on the Super Bowl is a term commonly used to refer to the Moneyline or the points spread for the Super Bowl. Once the teams playing in the 2022 Super Bowl are set, following the completion of the AFC and NFC Championship games on January, 30th, sportsbooks will quickly turn around their opening betting lines for the Super Bowl 2022. These lines may fluctuate in the build up to the game itself so some sharp bettors like to get in early, while others prefer to wait and see where the Super Bowl betting lines settle.

The Super Bowl spread is the colloquial term for the Against the Spread market for the Super Bowl matchup. The Super Bowl Spread is always released following the conclusion of the AFC Championship and NFC Championships games which will take place on 30th January 2022.

Super Bowl 55 was host to the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs vs the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Spread for Super Bowl 55 opened at -3 and has moved to -3.5 in most places.  The Super Bowl spread moves up and down as bettors place wagers right up until kicks off time, with the line movements known as the ‘public money’ or who the general public seems to favor covering.

The Super Bowl is unique in that due to the sheer size of the event, you’ll get a mixture of NFL fans who watch every game as well as casual fans and even those who won’t watch another football game all season tuning in. With this, the most popular bets on the Super Bowl differ slightly from your average NFL game. While the main three markets in the Moneyline, Points Spread and Total Points will still account for the majority of bets taken, Super Bowl prop bets and Super Bowl parlays have become increasingly popular choices, particularly amongst more casual sports bettors and NFL fans.

With so many prop bets available such as Touchdown Scorers, a Team To Score X Points, or the more novelty props such as the National Anthem, Gatorade Shower, or the First Song sung during the Halftime Show, there really is a Super Bowl Bet for any type of Super Bowl fan.
