The Atlanta Braves continued to roll over the weekend, winning 2 of 3 games against the Philadelphia Phillies to stretch their record over the last 10 games to 8-2. While their record isn’t quite as good, the Detroit Tigers are also on top of their division, despite losing two of three games against the Cincinnati Reds over the weekend. It should be a top-notch pitching matchup for this game, as Casey Mize and Martin Perez square off.

Mize has been a solid second option behind Tarik Skubal this season, giving the Tigers hope of a one-two punch going forward after getting a taste of the playoffs last season. Mize has consistently gotten better over the past few years, and it looks like it’s all starting to come together with a 2.51 ERA through 5 starts. Mize’s last three starts have been particularly great, allowing just two earned runs over 18.1 innings.

Perez has been no slouch himself, showing why the Braves went looking for him after a great 2025 with the Chicago White Sox. He owns a 2.70 ERA, and has also been lights out over recently, allowing just three earned runs over his past three starts. Both teams are hoping the bubble doesn’t burst, and it shouldn’t happen just yet. Take this game to be a pitchers’ duel.
