San Diego Padres vs Colorado Rockies Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/22/26

Winners of 3 straight and 15 of their last 18, the San Diego Padres are absolutely rolling right now, though it wasn’t exactly easy for them against the Rockies on Tuesday. San Diego managed to come away with a 1-0 win thanks to a gem thrown by Randy Vasquez, who went 7 innings with 5 strikeouts and just 3 hits allowed. Chase Dollander was very good for the Rockies as well despite being credited with the loss, as he threw 6 innings with 9 strikeouts while allowing just 1 earned run, 1 walk and 3 hits.

This will be the 6th game these teams have played against each other in this young season, and the Padres have won each of the previous 5. Oddmakers like the Padres to keep that streak going given their price as a heavy favorite, and I tend to agree, but I’m going to pivot to the total for my official bet and take the over. Being played in Coors Stadium, this game is already prone to being high-scoring. Now add in the fact that it will be around 80 degrees in Denver at first pitch with 20 MPH winds blowing out to right center. 

It also helps that San Diego’s Walker Buehler is a bit less effective against left-handed bats, as they are hitting .308 against him compared to .148 for right-handed bats. There are plenty of lefties in the Rockies lineup, and while Buehler blanked the Rockies in his first meeting with them, I’m not convinced he will have that same success in Coors. As for Colorado’s Tomoyuki Sugano, walks can be an issue for him from time to time, while he’s given up 19 hits in 20.2 innings pitched. Moreover, he’s surrendered 7 earned runs in his last 10 innings combined. I’m expecting runs here.
