San Francisco Giants vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/28/26

We’ve got an interesting pitching matchup on our hands to begin the series between the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. Tyler Mahle (5.26 ERA, 1.60 WHIP) gets the start following a roller coaster start to the season. Despite a couple solid starts, the righty has some daunting underlying numbers, sitting in the bottom fifth of the league in xBA, xERA and pitching run value. While the Phillies’ offense has also had its ups and downs, this is a solid spot to get back on track.

Jesus Luzardo (6.91 ERA, 1.54 WHIP) takes the mound for Philly with a similar resume; some good starts, some horrendous starts. The lefty has been cracked for 5+ ER in over half his starts this season and faces a Giants lineup with some eye-popping splits when facing left-handed pitching. Against RHP, San Francisco sits 29th in the league with a 81 wRC+, but that mark launches up to 106 when facing LHP. With all things considered, the matchup calls for scoring opportunities and I’ll take the over.
