That will certainly play a factor this time around, as STL starter Michael McGreevey (3.29 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) will be relied upon to go deeper into this game — something that doesn’t bode well for the RHP. When facing batters for the first time, McGreevey limits opponents to a .178 BA and .489 OPS; those numbers jump to a .308 BA and .862 OPS when seeing the lineup for a 3rd time. Furthermore, McGreevey falls in the 10th percentile or worse in xERA and xBA and should struggle against a Mariners lineup that ranks top-10 in wRC+ vs RHP.

Seattle’s pitching situation is a little more reliable/steady with Emerson Hancock (2.83 ERA, 0.87 WHIP) getting the start and a significantly less depleted bullpen compared to STL. Hancock has notched a quality start in over half of his appearances thus far and sits in the 93rd percentile for pitching run value. Even with a slightly juiced price on Seattle, I’m fading the Cardinals pitching staff at all costs in this spot and will take the Mariners to complete the sweep with a win.
