Blue Jays vs Angels Pickswise Expert Predictions

Money Line Pick
TOR Blue Jays Win(-120)

The Toronto Blue Jays roll into Southern California looking to keep the offense going. After struggling to score runs, posting seven in the previous four games total, Toronto exploded for eight runs in the top of the first inning at Arizona on Sunday en route to a 10-4 victory over the Diamondbacks. It was a long time coming, as the Blue Jays’ bats had collectively been scuffling, averaging just 3.1 runs per game (RPG) in the previous 15 outings, too. Now, the Jays will get to pick on LHP Reid Detmers of the Angels, who is a starter by necessity.

Detmers did a pretty good job at New York last time out, surprising the Yankees over seven frames, allowing just four hits with nine strikeouts. However, while he has been a high-strikeout pitcher, he has allowed three or more runs in two of his first three starts, and he hasn’t made it past 4 2/3 IP on two occasions. The Blue Jays are 1-2 against left-handed starting pitching this season, which isn’t great. But, Toronto has renewed confidence, RHP Dylan Cease has a sparkling 1.74 ERA and 1.26 WHIP to date, and the Jays are also 3-0 against the Western Division. Look for the Jays to get the job done.
