Blue Jays vs Brewers Pickswise Expert Predictions

Game Totals Pick
Over 8.5(-105)

After hot starts, both the Blue Jays and the Brewers have regressed in a major way. They traded wins in the first 2 games of this series, but Toronto has lost 9 of their last 12 games, while last night’s win ended a 6-game losing streak for Milwaukee.

Thursday’s rubbermatch matinee features a pitching matchup between Patrick Corbin and Brandon Sproat. At this point, I’m not quite sure how Corbin is still in the league, as the 36-year old hasn’t been reliable since 2019. Last year was his best year in quite some time, and he still had a 4.40 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. In his season debut last week, he displayed his old habits, yielding 4 earned runs and 2 home runs in 4 innings to the Minnesota Twins – who are in the bottom half of the league in hitting. As for Sproat, he hasn’t had a long leash this year and for good reason. The right-hander has given up 12 earned runs and 4 home runs in just 10.1 innings, along with 10 strikeouts and 10 walks.

This is a true getaway day, as both teams will travel for their weekend series in different cities after this contest. On these getaway days, I gravitate towards unders, but it’s extremely difficult to trust either of these pitchers. There figure to be ample baserunners in this one; I’m taking the over.

Blue Jays vs Brewers prediction: Over 8.5 (-105) at the time of publishing. Playable to -110.
