Best CFB player prop for the Week 12 slate: Mertz drops bombs

Graham Mertz CFB player prop

We have a few great games Saturday especially in the Big Ten starting right at noon ET with Michigan State and Ohio State on ABC. Obviously that one is going to be special but I have my eyes on the next good Big Ten game which is the on the same channel. We don’t even have to change our channels, people. ABC will be showing the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Wisconsin Badgers at 3:30 pm ET. For my money it doesn’t get much better than the 3:30pm slot. It’s the bridge that takes us from noon right into Saturday night. Now all we need to do is find the right CFB player prop.

On top of this article, you should definitely check out our CFB expert picks for the action today. It’s just a smart thing to do. Also, bets can be added to the card, so why not follow me on Twitter in case we get some last-second action? Things change all day with CFB games so there is a chance for opportunity to knock.

CFB Player Prop – Graham Mertz over 169.5 passing yards (-115)

Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.

This one is coming from DraftKings, and I love it. I haven’t seen anything posted at FanDuel yet and BetMGM is MIA on this one too. Both of those books tend to post CFB player props closer to game times so it is always worth the time to look on Saturday mornings.

Call me old fashioned but I’m not into disrespecting kids and this line is pretty disrespectful. This kid Mertz is not that bad to slap a 169.5 on him and call it a day. I get that Wisconsin isn’t a team that throws very much, but he has hit this number in each of his last 2 games. Not only has he hit it, but he has also gone way over in each of the games.

Mertz has the right opponent in Nebraska, because I think the Cornhusker can at least put up a little fight. We don’t need Nebraska to win just be close enough to put pressure on Wisconsin to not sit on the ball. The great thing about the Cornhuskers is that they stop the run. They rank 35th in the nation only allowing 3.7 yards per rush attempt. If they can just have minor success Saturday, Mertz and Wisconsin will have to go to the air to move the ball.
