Best Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers touchdown scorer bets for NFL Divisional Round: Crown CeeDee Lamb

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (88) reacts with wide receiver Michael Gallup (13) after scoring a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second half during the wild card game at Raymond James Stadium.

The Divisional Round concludes with the Dallas Cowboys visiting the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday evening. Both teams won their Wild Card matchup by double-digits, but this matchup is poised to not only be an exciting one, but a close one as well. Dallas and San Francisco have elite offenses, so I dove into the prop market to analyze which threats I believe can find the end zone.

With kickoff set for 6:30 pm ET on FOX, it’s time to take a look at the best touchdown scorer bets.

Dallas Cowboys touchdown scorer best bet: CeeDee Lamb, WR (+165)

DK Metcalf exposed San Francisco’s lone defensive weakness in the Wild Card round. Although Seattle lost by nearly 20 points, Metcalf had a career game. He finished with 10 receptions for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns as the 49ers secondary continued to struggle. While the Niners boast one of the best rushing defenses in the league as they allow the 2nd fewest rushing yards per game, their secondary allows the 12th most passing yards per game. Geno Smith and the Seahawks took advantage of that weakness by targeting Metcalf over and over, but they have not been the only team to do that. In the last several weeks, San Francisco has allowed Davante Adams, A.J Green and Terry McLaurin to find the end zone. It’s become clear that the Niners struggle to cover the good receivers and that should allow CeeDee Lamb to thrive.

Lamb played a large role in Dallas’ win over the Buccaneers on Monday with 68 receiving yards and a touchdown, and he should continue to be a focal point in the offense if the Cowboys want to win. Dak Prescott will likely want to throw frequently in this game because Dallas is fully aware that they will struggle to rush the ball against the Niners’ elite rushing defense in the league. That should allow for a plethora of opportunities for Lamb, so I’ll back him to score against a struggling Niners secondary.

San Francisco 49ers touchdown scorer best bet: Deebo Samuel, WR (+140)

Available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

If you’re looking to pay the steep price on Christian McCaffrey to score, be my guest, but I’ll stick with a plus-odds play for Sunday. That play will be on Deebo Samuel, who like McCaffrey, is a dual threat. In last week’s game against the Seahawks, Samuel had the second most carries behind McCaffrey while also leading all receivers in targets, receptions and yards. He finished with 32 rushing yards and 133 receiving yards – so he can do it all. He will be facing a Dallas defense that owns a strong secondary, but a shaky run defense. The Cowboys allow the 8th fewest passing yards and the 11th most rushing yards, so the 49ers’ game plan may keep the ball out of Brock Purdy’s hands.

I expect a heavy workload for McCaffrey while also giving Deebo several carries, and the Niners tend to run with Samuel the most when they’re in the red zone. They like to try and have Deebo win the race to the outside and turn the corner, something he did constantly in the regular season. The bottom line is Samuel will get several opportunities on the ground as well as likely being their lead receiver, so at +140 odds, he’s worth a play.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer FAQs

What does “anytime touchdown scorer” mean?

Anytime touchdown scorer is a popular player prop bet that NFL bettors can wager on throughout the season. But what is it, and how do you win?

As the name suggests, placing a wager on the anytime touchdown scorer market is when you tip a particular player to score a touchdown during a game. This can be a rushing or receiving touchdown for an offensive player, or you can wager on a team’s defense/special teams to score a touchdown by interception return and fumble return or kickoff and punt returns.

If your player or defense scores a touchdown, you win! The odds will differ from player-to-player depending on the sportsbooks’ calculated probability of that player scoring.

Does anytime touchdown scorer include passing touchdowns?

Not for a quarterback, no. A player must get into the endzone, himself, in order to qualify as an anytime touchdown scorer. If a quarterback throws a touchdown pass, only the player who caught it counts as the scorer. If Joe Burrow throws a touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, wagers placed on Evans as an anytime touchdown scorer will cash. However, those placed on Rodgers as an anytime touchdown scorer will not (unless he also runs for a TD). See below for more on what the anytime touchdown scorer market means for quarterbacks.

What does anytime touchdown scorer mean for a QB?

For a wager on a QB to be an anytime touchdown scorer to cash, he must follow the same rules as a running back, tight end, or receiver. He must get into the end zone himself, either as a runner or a pass-catcher.

In the age of the mobile quarterback, QBs such as Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray are often seen rushing in for a touchdown on any given Sunday. And don’t forget the occasional Philly Special, either. QBs can sometimes catch passes for TDs, too.
