Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief write-ups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 246 wins and 154 losses for a gain of +40.06 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Monday.

This being a must-win game for the Milwaukee Brewers is an understatement. They folded against the Miami Marlins in a weekend series, losing the last 2 games, and now find themselves within a loss of not being able to make the playoffs. Thankfully for them, they have one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Brandon Woodruff.

Woodruff has done his part for the Brewers. He’s recorded a win in his last 4 starts, including games against the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees. In 6 starts in September, Woodruff allowed 10 earned runs and an opponent batting average of .197. The Diamondbacks are no slouch. They won’t be playing in the postseason for the 5th straight year, but they’ve shown they can compete. They are hitting .257 against right-handed pitching in the last 2 weeks which came against the likes of Justin Verlander and Alex Cobb twice. Unfortunately for them, Woodruff is on another level and the Diamondbacks will have Tommy Henry on the mound, who has allowed at least 5 earned runs in his last 3 starts.

Woodruff has pitched at least 5 innings in 17 straight starts and may very well go into the 7th if he’s pitching efficiently with a low pitch count. The Brewers are -245 on the moneyline and have the 6th-best bullpen ERA in the National League. Woodruff will look to record his 14th win on the season and his 5th in a row.
