Wednesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.
The Samsung Lions were able to win on Tuesday morning, beating the LG Twins by a score of 7-4. The Lions are still 5 games under .500 and sit tied for 8th in the league standings. They look to be in a good spot to make it 2 wins in a row, by starting Albert Suarez. He is 1-2 on the season, and he has an ERA of 3.00. In 4 starts this season, he has allowed 7 earned runs in 21.0 innings.
With the loss on Tuesday, the Twins drop to 12-9 on the season. They are now in 3rd place in the standings and will be scheduled to start Lee Min-Ho. He is 0-1 on the season and has an ERA of 12.10. In 3 starts this season, Min-Ho has allowed 13 earned runs in 9.2 innings. His most recent start was especially bad, allowing 7 earned runs in 3.1 innings to the Hanwha Eagles.
The Lions have a clear pitching advantage on Wednesday, and simply put Min-Ho is not a pitcher to trust right now. For that reason backing the Lions will be the play.
The total could very well be the better play in this game just based on the quality we have seen from both of the starting pitching. Yun Dae-Kyung is one of the better Eagles’ starters, and even though Eric Jokisch had an off game against the Tigers in his last start, he should be able to hold a slightly below average Eagles’ offense in check. The Heroes actually have a worse offense, ranking 9th in total runs. They average 3.33 runs per game, and clearly had trouble scoring on Tuesday morning. Facing a better pitcher in Dae-Kyung on Wednesday should see them struggle again, therefore backing the under will be the play.
Given the starting pitchers in this game, the under looks to be the better play. The SSG Landers are the best offensive team in the KBO, but they have not faced many pitchers as good as Park Se-Woong this season. The SSG Landers are averaging 4.80 runs per game, but are allowing 2.62 runs per game, the best defensive team in the league. The Giants are average in both offense and defense, but Kim Kwang-Hyun to be able to shut any team he faces down. Tuesday’s game got out of hand rather quickly, but with 2 starters that are much better set to go on Wednesday backing the under will be the play.
