KBO picks and predictions

Tuesday’s slate features plenty of opportunities for value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Kia Tigers vs KT Wiz – Under 8.5 runs (-105)

The total looks to be the strong play, given Odrisamer Despaigne’s success and Daniel Mengden’s ability to be serviceable. Mengden has actually not faced the KT Wiz this season, so it is possible he will have a slight advantage, at least through the first part of this game. As well as been solid through the season as a whole, Despaigne has also been very good against this Tigers’ team. He is 2-1 against them with an ERA of 3.13. This is over the span of 4 starts in which he has allowed 8 runs over 23.0 innings pitched. It is true that the KT Wiz offense has been scoring a lot recently, but facing a guy they have not seen this season will likely limit their chances. For that reason, backing the under will be the play for this game.

Kiwoom Heroes vs Doosan Bears – Under 8.5 runs (-115)

Given Ariel Miranda’s overall dominance, it is hard to believe that the Heroes will be able to do much offensively here. Miranda is 0-2 against Kiwoom, but his 2.37 ERA still shows that he is limiting them. He has just 2 starts against the Heroes, but has allowed just 2 runs over 13.0 innings. Kim Dong-Hyeok has yet to start against the Bears but does have a couple of relief appearances against them. He has a total of 7.0 innings against the Bears and has yet to allow a single run. Because Don-Hyeok has pitched well against Doosan, backing the under looks to be the right side here.

Hanwha Eagles vs NC Dinos -1.5 (-125)

The Dinos are still hanging on the 5th and final playoff spot, but just barely. They are tied with the SSG Landers for this final playoff spot, making this series against last place Hanwha crucial. The Dinos will start Drew Rucinski to open the series and he has been excellent this season. His record on the year is 10-7 and his ERA is 2.96.

The Eagles continue to struggle this season, and even though they won this past Sunday, they are well below every other team in the KBO. Hanwha will start Jang Si-Hwan, who has been awful this season. He is winless (0-10) and has an ERA of 6.02.

There is no way that backing the Eagles in this spot makes sense. The Dinos are clearly the better side and with a pitcher who is having a fantastic season, backing the Dinos on the run line is really the only play here.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a 3-team parlay which pays out at +557.
