KBO picks and predictions

Friday’s five-game slate will feature some lopsided matchups that offer value. Let’s dive into the day’s best bets.

Samsung Lions/Doosan Bears Over 9.5 Runs (+108)

We will be looking to fade to bad pitchers here as the Samsung Lions will be starting Chae-heung Choi, who is 7-6 with an ERA of 4.16. More concerning, Choi has an ERA of 14.14 against the Bears, allowing 11 runs over 7.0 innings in two starts. The Bears will counter with Hui-kwan Yu, who is 8-9 with an ERA of 5.30. In his last five starts, he has allowed 15 runs over 21.1 innings. Both teams are 3-2 to the over in their last five games. Because I have no faith in either pitcher here, I will back the over and will look for a high scoring game.

SK Wyverns/Kiwoom Heroes Over 9.5 Runs (-122)

We are pretty much always looking to fade Ricardo Pinto and the SK Wyverns and this time is no different. Pinto is 5-13 on the season with an ERA of 6.42. Against the Heroes, he has an ERA of 13.85 over just three starts. Over this stretch, he has allowed 20 runs over 13.0 innings.

It is not any better for the Heroes, who is 6-4 with an ERA of 5.20. He has just one start against the Wyverns, but lasted just 2.2 innings, allowing four runs. His last five starts have not been good either, allowing 17 runs over his last 23.1 innings. The Heroes are averaging 7.0 runs per game over their their last five and the Wyverns are allowing 6.8 runs over the same stretch. Two of the last three head to head meetings have flown over the total and I will look for the same here.

KT Wiz -1.5 Run Line (-158)

The KT Wiz will start Odrisamer Despaigne. He is 14-7 this season with an ERA of 3.99. His last five starts have seen him allow 13 runs over his last 33.1 innings. The Tigers will counter with Hyun-shik Jang, who will be making his first start this season. He has 26.1 innings of work out of bullpen and has allowed 23 earned runs. His record is 4-1 and he has an ERA of 7.86.

Despaigne is 4-0 against Kia, posting an ERA of 2.60 against them. Because of this success and the lack of starting experience for Jang, I have to lean to the KT Wiz  on the run line.

For those of you looking for bigger payouts, play the best bets as a three-team parlay, which pays +518.
