After taking an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning last night, the Guardians found themselves behind just a few innings later. They were able to mount a comeback to secure back-to-back wins against the Tigers. The AL Central hasn’t been the most intimidating division this season, but Cleveland is trying to gain ground on the Twins as we head into the all-star break. However, Detroit has still been a pest recently, so let’s see how we can target specific markets for Saturday’s game.

Along with this same game parlay, be sure to check out our thoughts on the side and total for all of today’s games.

Both teams over 3.5 total runs (+210)

Jose Ramirez 2+ total bases (+105)

Miguel Cabrera 2+ total bases (+140)

Parlay odds: +700

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

Both teams over 3.5 total runs (+210)

If you’re one who follows our same game parlays regularly, it may feel like today has a theme to it. There seems to be a lot of games that could go either way, so attacking the total runs market seems to be the way to go. The Guardians may have won the first 2 games, but it wasn’t long ago where the situation was flipped. It was the Tigers who swept Cleveland in a 4-game series at the beginning of the month. Counting on Detroit to do their part of the production may seem surprising as well. However, they scored at least 4 runs in each of the 4 games in the last series, including an 11-4 win.

That win was against Cal Quantrill, who will be starting this game for the Guardians. They may be listed as significant favorites, but it was just 11 days ago Quantrill took the loss. The Tigers were +130 underdogs back then, and are still at a similar price now on the road. However, it is still hard to have confidence supporting Tigers starter Michael Pineda. He’s lost 2 of his last 3 starts to the Royals, one of the few teams with a worse record than Detroit. Therefore, the play is for each team to continue producing against these struggling starters. The Tigers did so in all 4 games last series, and the Guardians have done so in the first 2 games of this one.

Jose Ramirez 2+ total bases (+105)

One of the primary, and sometimes only reason the Guardians have been successful producing runs has been Jose Ramirez. He’s been incredible all season, and is still a candidate for the AL MVP. His 182 total bases is easily the most on the team, and is tied with Freddie Freeman for the 6th-most in baseball. There’s nothing Ramirez can’t do, as he has 30 doubles, 4 triples, and 17 home runs. He may look like a big, intimidating figure, but he can move as well. It also helps that Pineda is on the mound for the Tigers today, as he has multiple doubles against him. Despite not hitting this prop last night, he still had an RBI single and scored a run. He hasn’t had anything close to a slump this season, and should bounce back strong before participating in both the home run derby and all-star game.

Miguel Cabrera 2+ total bases (+140)

Miguel Cabrera won’t be alongside Ramirez in the home run derby, but he will be for the all-star game. After recording his 3,000th hit earlier this season, he was a legacy selection to the American League roster. He hasn’t been as potent at the plate as some of his previous seasons, but that’s also creating great value for today’s game specifically. There’s no denying his career’s worth of success at the plate, and he loves hitting Cal Quantrill. It hasn’t been the most at-bats, but he’s 6-for-9 against the Guardians starter. That’s good for a .667 slugging percentage, which is exactly what we’re focused on for this prop. He had 3 total bases against Cleveland the last time Quantrill was on the mound, and can add to his team-leading 81 hits today.
