MLB Friday same game parlay (+822 odds): New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox

Nathan Eovaldi Yankees vs Red Sox

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are beginning their final regular season series at 7:10pm ET tonight at Fenway Park. ESPN is carrying the game and I don’t see how we can convince ourselves not to throw a little same game parlay out there. We can do the thing where we string 2 bets in the +290 range together for .1 unit. Then we can put a .5 unit straight play on the same bets. If we win one of the bets, we’re good and if we lose both, we are out only 1.1 units. I’m telling you, that’s not a bad idea.

Boston Red Sox -2.5 (+320)

Nathan Eovaldi 8+ strikeouts (+290)

Parlay odds: +822

Boston Red Sox -2.5 (+320)

I get that the Yankees are favored here but I don’t know why. They just swept the Texas Rangers who look like a minor-league team at this point. Before that they dropped 2 out of 3 to the Cleveland Indians. A lot of people are going to say “Gerrit Cole is on the hill”. That’s true but the last time he pitched he gave up 7 runs and the Yankees lost 11-1. In the month of September, he’s pitched against two teams with winning records and the Yankees lost both games by 4+ runs. Now he gets the Boston Red Sox, who have won 7 in a row all by at least 2 runs and 6 by at least 3. They’ve got a ridiculous 1.007 OPS over the last week and we’re favoring the Yankees here? I wouldn’t bet New York with YOUR money.

Nathan Eovaldi 8+ strikeouts (+290)

Why are we just going to pretend Nathan Eovaldi isn’t going to just fan Yankees all night? This is +290 right now people. That’s crazy. First off, the Yankees are whiffers. They are. Only 5 teams in MLB have struck out more than they have this season. Over their last 156 at-bats, they’ve struck out 40 times. Now that’s not horrible but it’s not good either. Especially when our boy Nathan Eovaldi has hit this number in each of his last 4 starts. I’m no genius but if a guy has hit a number 4 straight times, I wouldn’t hang a +290 on him to do it again. I like this bet.
