The 2022 MLB season continues this weekend, and we have another exciting slate of games on Friday. One of the marquee matchups features the New York Mets and Los Angeles Angels, starting at 9:38 pm ET on Apple TV+. Both teams are trending in opposite directions, with the Mets on top of the NL East while the Angels have lost 9 of 10.

What better way to celebrate this matchup than by betting a same game parlay? We have come up with a 3-leg parlay, which would pay out at nearly 6/1 odds with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s take a look at each of the legs.

Mets -1.5 (+138)

Under 8.5 (-105)

Mark Canha to record a hit (-200)

Parlay odds: +579

New York Mets vs LA Angels: Start time and how to watch

The Mets and Angels start their series on Friday with a start time of 9:38 pm ET. The game is airing exclusively on Apple TV+. Let’s get into our same game parlay for this interleague matchup.

New York Mets -1.5 (+138)

Despite the talent the Angels have, the Halos are in the midst of a terrible stretch. Having lost 9 of their last 10 games, the Angels are trending in the opposite direction from the Mets, who are at the top of the National League. New York is playing at a high level, despite having just gone against the Padres and Dodgers. Mets starter Tyler Megill is coming off his worst start of the season, but he allowed just 9 runs in 33 prior innings pitched. Megill should get back on track against an Angels lineup that is struggling mightily to produce on a consistent basis. And even if the right-hander doesn’t go deep into the game, New York has the considerable bullpen advantage as well.

When the Mets win, they tend to win by a considerable margin. Additionally, of the last 10 Angels losses, 6 of them have come by at least 2 runs. Look for the Mets to bounce back after a big loss and take the first game of this series in convincing fashion.

Under 8.5 (-105)

Honing in on correlating results is usually helpful when constructing a same game parlay. In this case, I think an under pairs nicely with a Mets victory. New York still has one of the best team ERAs in baseball, despite missing Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer. Megill’s last start is more likely an outlier than a sign of things to come, and I expect him to bounce back. And while the Mets lineup has been consistently strong, they will be without Pete Alonso in the middle. The Angels will counter with Jhonathan Díaz, who holds a 1.32 ERA through his first 3 starts of the season. With a struggling Los Angeles lineup and strong starting pitching on both sides, expect a low-scoring affair.

Mark Canha to record a hit (-200)

As a rule, including legs that may not correlate with each other always increases your odds in a same game parlay. However, I don’t think Mark Canha having success conflicts with this game going under the total. Canha has quietly been one of the more consistent hitters in the Mets lineup, hitting .295 for the season with only 34 strikeouts. With hits in 7 of his last 10 games, it’s more than fair to expect Canha to produce today. The outfielder should have at least 4 plate appearances, giving us a good chance of cashing this leg at an implied probability of 66%.
