The 2025 MLB season keeps rolling along, and Tuesday features a full slate of games for us to enjoy. I’m 10-2 on my MLB best bets and the Pickswise MLB handicapping team as a whole is 30-11-3 on their best bets this season. Let’s keep it going as we get into my MLB best bets of the day! Also, don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for Tuesday’s slate.

MLB best bet: San Francisco Giants ML over San Diego Padres (-120)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.

To start things off, let’s target the San Francisco Giants on the money line in this pivotal National League West clash. These are 2 of the best teams in baseball through the first month of the season, but it’s the road team that holds the advantage in this matchup for my money. Webb has long been one of the more underrated pitchers in the game, and the right-handed veteran has been dominant in all areas this season, to the tune of a 1.98 ERA and just 8 earned runs allowed over 6 starts. What’s more impressive are Webb’s underlying metrics, as he currently holds a 1.96 FIP that ranks 3rd-best among qualified MLB starters, and a 30.8% strikeout percentage that sits as his career-best mark per Baseball Savant.

Despite the big names that we see in the Padres lineup, I still see no reason to expect Webb to suddenly turn in a bad outing against a familiar opponent, especially since he’s historically had success against the likes of Xander Bogaerts and Fernando Tatis Jr. As for the hosts, Nick Pivetta has been outstanding for San Diego to this point, but he is pitching way over his head at the moment, especially compared to what his usual career numbers look like. It’s only a matter of time before the veteran right-hander should regress to the mean a bit, even at home. Ultimately, I’ll back the division-leading Giants to get off on the right foot in this series.

MLB best bet: Los Angeles Dodgers team total over 4.5 over Miami Marlins (-115)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -125.

For this second and final best bet, we’re heading to Los Angeles for a National League matchup between the Marlins and Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. The home team clearly holds an edge in this matchup, but due to the uncertainly with how the Dodgers are going to approach this bullpen game on the mound, I’d much rather hone in on the Los Angeles lineup to do damage against a pitcher that simply isn’t what he once was a few years ago.

Not long ago, Sandy Alcantara was one of the most dominant pitchers in the game. However, this season has not gone to plan for the Marlins ace following his return from Tommy John surgery, as he’s posted a 6.56 ERA and 1.33 WHIP through his first 5 outings. Furthermore, Alcantara has surrendered 13 runs on 14 hits, along with 8 walks over his last 13.2 innings pitched, with his worst outing coming against the Phillies on April 18. Additionally, the Dodgers lineup holds a .306 batting average against Alcantara with a .515 slugging percentage, even with Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez struggling against the right-hander in a limited sample size. Even if Alcantara makes it through 5 innings without much damage, the Marlins were forced to use 6 receivers last night in the extra-inning loss. All things considered, the Dodgers offense should roll, so let’s take the team total over on Tuesday.
