With plenty of MLB games taking place each day, one of the quickest bets you can make is if a run will be scored in the first inning. There is value to be had and this market has become very popular over time. If you don’t like sweating out your bets for 3 hours, this one will take only about 15 minutes. Our picks are 4-0 over the last 2 days, so let’s keep the momentum going!

Before we dive in, don’t forget to check out our MLB picks on the side and total for every game today. There are 2 YRFI/NRFI bets I like on Saturday, so let’s get right into it.

You can bet on our YRFI/NRFI picks at FanDuel, America’s #1 sportsbook, which has a great new customer offer where you can get a No Sweat First Bet up to $2,500! Click here to take advantage of this awesome offer.

St. Louis Cardinals vs New York Mets: NRFI (-130)

For our first NRFI pick on Saturday’s slate, I’m looking at a scoreless opening frame between the Cardinals and Mets. It has been a fairly solid rookie season for Mets starter Kodai Senga, who hit a few rough patches in April and May before rebounding nicely in recent outings. More importantly, there’s one trend that has held steady with Senga this season — he has been excellent at home. In fact, the right-hander has surrendered just 6 runs over his last 5 outings at Citi Field against a variety of competition. I’m expecting a similar effort on Saturday against a Cardinals lineup that is firmly middle of the pack in most offensive categories.

On the other side, Adam Wainwright has been up-and-down this season, but he’s still tossed a scoreless first inning in 4 of his 7 outings during the campaign. The Mets lineup hasn’t performed up to par this season, sitting at 22nd in both SLG and OPS. Even factoring in Wainwright’s inconsistent efforts and middling metrics this season, we still should see a quick start in Flushing.

New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox: NRFI (+100)

For our second NRFI pick on Saturday’s card, I’m going with a quick inning in one of the most historic rivalries in baseball. In last weekend’s series, pitching was the story in the Bronx, and that could continue given that the Yankees will be without Aaron Judge once again. Red Sox starter Brayan Bello will face a Yankees offense that has struggled against Boston starting pitching this season, and I expect the same in this one. Boston’s offense has been solid at home, but I expect the Red Sox to struggle against Clarke Schmidt, who gave up 2 or fewer runs in 5 of his 6 starts in May, and has followed that up with a pair of great starts in June. At plus-money, I see value in the NRFI at Fenway Park on Saturday.
