Whew. The 2021 MLB playoffs sure have been thrilling, and now we’ll be treated to the start of the NLCS as the Atlanta Braves host the Los Angeles Dodgers for Game 1. The Dodgers won 106 games this season but were relegated to the wild card because of the unexpectedly dominant campaign the Giants had. Nevertheless, they beat St. Louis in the wild-card game then bested San Francisco in five games in the NLDS. Postseason baseball is always a treat, and we can’t wait for what’s in store. What better way to make this game even more exciting than by betting a same game parlay?

We of course also have thoughts on the side and total for the game, and every game throughout the playoffs, which you can view in our MLB picks tab. But first, here is this SGP:

Atlanta Braves ML (-104)

Max Fried over 5.5 strikeouts (+188)

Justin Turner to record an RBI (+150)

Same Game Parlay odds: +1789

We have a 3-leg parlay which pays out just shy of 18/1 with FanDuel Sportsbook. Let’s break it down:

Atlanta Braves ML (-104)

To start this same game parlay off, I’m taking Atlanta on the money line. I’m higher on this Braves team than most. They had a disappointing first half of the season, causing everyone to forget they were a game away from the World Series last year. Atlanta just won three straight against the Brewers to cruise into this series, while the Dodgers are coming off an emotional and exhausting five-game series against the Giants.

If there was going to be a spot for a Dodgers letdown in this series, it would be here. In three of their five games against the Giants, Los Angeles scored zero, one and two runs. It looks like the Dodgers will go with a bullpen game here, which leaves them at a disadvantage considering Max Fried has been pitching really well. And that brings us to the second leg of our same game parlay….

Max Fried over 5.5 strikeouts (+188)

I think oddsmakers are underestimating Fried just because it’s a playoff game. In his first start of these playoffs against the Brewers in the NLDS, Fried struck out 9. He is only 27, but he has pitched in 13 playoff games before, so it’s not like the stage is going to be too big for him. Especially here at home. Fried has struck out at least 6 batters in 9 of his past 15 outings, so getting nearly 2/1 here seems like a steal. It’s not like he’s only been doing it against weaker lineups either. Fried pitched against this same Dodgers lineup a little more than a month ago. He struck out 9 across 6.0 innings.

Justin Turner to record an RBI (+150)

We’ll wrap up our same game parlay with this Turner prop. We get a big odds boost by combining this with the Braves winning, when I don’t think it conflicts too much. If anyone from the Dodgers is going to have some success offensively, it’s going to be Turner. He’s got a history of seeing Fried well, going 5-for-10 with a home run and a double against the lefty in his career. Turner was cold in the series against San Francisco (like much of their lineup), but he hit a homer in the wild card game so I’m not too concerned.
