We’re off and running in the 2023 Major League Baseball season. The first full week of action is nearing an end, but it continues on Saturday with a full 15-game slate. There are 7 afternoon contests, headlined by a showdown on FS1 between the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers. The night session includes the St. Louis Cardinals visiting the National League Central rival Milwaukee Brewers and the Atlanta Braves hosting the San Diego Padres.

Below is my mega parlay for Saturday, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks

Reds ML (+120)

Cubs ML (-115)

Padres ML (+145)

MLB parlay odds: +908

For this parlay we are going with 3 money line plays – 2 underdogs and 1 favorite.

Reds ML over Phillies (+120)

The defending National League champions are off to a slow start this season – so slow, in fact, that there is value with the Reds as road underdogs on Saturday. Cincinnati has hit the ball better than could have been expected to start the season and the visitors will send plenty of right-handed batters to the plate against Phillies starter Bailey Falter. Although Falter is decent, he is far from special. The left-hander stays in the zone a lot, which isn’t necessarily a good thing. The Reds should be able to put balls in play and rack up enough runs to win. Cincy is countering with Nick Lodolo, who is a star in the making. He recorded 9 strikeouts in his first start of the season and the Reds allowed him to throw 109 pitches. That may be a concern later in the year, but for now it’s encouraging. Give me the visitors outright.

Cubs ML over Rangers (-115)

Texas is sending Martin Perez to the mound on Saturday. The left-hander was decent in his season debut, allowing just 1 earned run during 5.2 innings of work, but he also scattered 8 hits and 3 walks. That’s not going to get you out of there with only 1 earned run given up in most situations. Perez is a candidate for regression this season – and from his first start – following a year in which he consistently overperformed his expected metrics. He now faces a Cubs lineup that is in surprisingly fine form to begin the 2023 campaign. Chicago should be able to provide Justin Steele with enough run support to win. Steele opened his year with 6.0 innings of scoreless baseball against the Brewers to go along with 8 Ks. He compiled a 2.78 home ERA in 2022 and surrendered just 8 earned runs in his final 34.2 innings at Wrigley Field.

Padres ML over Braves (+145)

This series between obvious NL contenders is tied up at 1-1 heading into Saturday’s contest. The Padres bounced back from an opening loss with a 5-4 victory on Friday night and they have great value as significant underdogs to make it 2 in a row. Today’s pitching matchup is a battle of veterans: Michael Wacha of San Diego facing Atlanta’s Charlie Morton. With Morton struggling last season and in his first start of this one, the Padres’ red-hot offense should be in line for considerable production. They have scored 11 runs through 2 games against a solid Braves pitching corps. The visitors may have to cross the plate a lot to win on Saturday…but they should be able to do it.
