We have a huge slate in Major League Baseball on Saturday — even more than a full 15 games because of double-headers on the heels of some Friday rainouts. There is an especially intriguing battle between the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres, who kicked off their three-game series on Friday. Let’s take a look at our three-team mega parlay as weekend action resumes on the MLB diamonds.

Padres -1.5 (+110)

Cardinals -1.5 (+100)

Mariners -1.5 (+175)

Parlay odds: +1055

For this parlay we are going with three favorites on the -1.5 run lines. Here is a breakdown of the three legs one by one.

San Diego Padres -1.5 over Houston Astros (+110)

The Padres will have a huge pitching advantage in this game as Yu Darvish is going up against Jake Odorizzi. Darvish has been one of the best pitchers in all of baseball this season and his 1.75 ERA is tied for fourth-lowest in the league. He has been dominant all year and has allowed two or fewer runs in nine straight starts. The Padres are 9-1 in his ten starts and opponents are hitting just .148 against him in his three road appearances. On the other side, Odorizzi will be starting for the first time in more than a month. He suffered a right pronator strain on April 24, and has made two rehab starts in Triple-A in preparation for his return to the big leagues. Odorizzi may receive a rude welcoming from the Padres, as they are one of baseball’s hottest teams. They have outscored their opponents by 39 runs in their last ten games.

St Louis Cardinals -1.5 over Arizona Diamondbacks (+100)

The Diamondbacks found themselves in the midst of a double-digit losing streak heading into this series. They are not doing anything right, their best pitcher is injured, and to make matters even more complicated they’ll be facing one of the league’s elite veteran pitchers on Saturday in the form of Adam Wainwright. His career looked like it was coming to an end after taking a downturn between 2017 and 2019, but the 39-year-old rebounded beautifully in 2020, finishing 5-3 with a 3.15 ERA. He has managed to keep that mark under 4.00 this year as well. Arizona’s Seth Frankoff will likely be overmatched.

Seattle Mariners -1.5 over Texas Rangers (+175)

Former Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen often receives criticism — and rightly so — for trading away Jarred Kelenic (then the organization’s top prospect) to Seattle for Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz after the 2018 season. Don’t forget that Van Wagenen also let Justin Dunn go in that deal. After a 4-1 season last year, Dunn has been even better in 2021, pitching to a 3.40 ERA through his first eight starts. While control continues to be an issue, Dunn has been borderline unhittable. Through his first 22 MLB starts, opponents are batting just .178 against him. Dunn is opposed by Mike Foltynewicz, who was roughed up the last time he faced the Mariners on May 7 (four runs in 6.2 innings). Foltynewicz is nothing close to a reliable pitcher.
