The Mariners and Guardians played a 4-game series last weekend and they are back at it again. They’re in Cleveland this time, and just as much is at stake. The Mariners are still fighting to maintain an AL wild-card spot, while the Guardians are trying to stay atop the AL Central. This very well may be a future playoff matchup. That means this series could go a long way in determining that. With last weekend’s matchup to utilize, let’s break down the best markets to make this game profitable. Along with this same game parlay, be sure to check out our MLB picks for all of today’s games.

Mariners ML (-168)

Julio Rodriguez 2+ total bases (-130)

Eugenio Suarez 2+ total bases (+140)

Parlay odds: +449

Let’s take a closer look at each leg of our same game parlay.

Seattle Mariners ML (-168) over Cleveland Guardians

Although this is a rematch of last weekend, this series took a massive turn just hours before last night’s series opener. Both Zach Plesac and Aaron Civale were placed on the injured list by the Guardians. They were the projected starters for the first two games, which is why Xzavion Curry is getting his second career start. As if things didn’t already look promising for Robbie Ray, the matchup is even more advantageous. The only team Curry has faced in his MLB career is the Tigers. They’re the league’s lowest-scoring team and recorded 8 hits and 3 runs against him, while also beating the Guardians.

Meanwhile, Ray has already proved that he can take advantage of this great matchup. The Guardians have been awful against lefties this season. They have the 2nd-lowest OPS against them, ahead of only the struggling Marlins. Ray and the Mariners won his start against Cleveland last weekend in shutout fashion. That marked the 4th straight Seattle win behind Ray, and he personally had an incredible month. He had 2 starts with 10 strikeouts, and the other 3 with 7 strikeouts. Even Guardians slugger Jose Ramirez went 0-for-4 in Ray’s start. With Cleveland now having to start Curry, there’s simply no reason to doubt Ray and the Mariners.

Julio Rodriguez 2+ total bases (-130)

It’s likely no surprise which Mariners hitter we’re going to target for this prop. Rookie Julio Rodriguez is as close to a lock as it gets when it comes to winning the AL Rookie of the Year. Seattle just signed him for the next 14 years in quite the lucrative deal. Now it’s up to him to continue living up to all of the hype. He’s done so thus far, and there’s no reason to doubt him with the Guardians forced to give Curry his second career start.

Even after Ty France’s double last night, Julio still leads the team with 212 total bases. That’s even with missing time, as he’s played in just 115 of the team’s 132 games. Despite missing those games, he still has the 15th-most total bases in the AL. It also helps that he’s not home run-dependent. He has 21 doubles and 22 homers to go along with his 3 triples. He’s even averaging over a hit per game. Although he only had 1 last night, expect him to take advantage of today’s matchup.

Eugenio Suarez 2+ total bases (+140)

We’re not going too far down the list when it comes to the team leaders. Eugenio Suarez has really come on as of late, and catapulted himself to 2nd of the team in terms of total bases. He’s just 2 behind Julio, and was on quite the hot streak leading up to last night. Despite having a sub-par series opener, expect him to bounce back. He too is a great balance at the plate, with 22 doubles and 25 home runs. Of course he’ll get to take advantage of the Curry matchup as well. He entered this series hitting this prop in every game of their previous series, including a great 5-total base performance. Suarez also homered last weekend against the Guardians, so trust him to come through against them once again.
