MLB Sunday player prop: Guardians put Wood on it

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Wood (57) pitches the ball against the San Diego Padres during the first inning at Oracle Park.

Happy Easter! It’s been a long week of baseball and there is baseball on all day. There’s one player prop that I really like today, but before that, be sure to check out our full game previews for tonight’s matchups.

Alex Wood (SF) under 5.5 strikeouts (+120)

Alex Wood will take the mound against the Guardians to finish up the series and he will have the tough task of slowing down the Cleveland offense. The Guardians have had a great start to the season and have struck out the 9th-fewest times so far, which is due to their approach at the plate. They like to swing early in the at-bat and avoid the pitcher’s offspeed when they get down in the count.

On the road in 2021, Wood struggled. Opposing teams were hitting .282 against him and his strikeout numbers were down compared to his starts at home. Later in the season when Wood is conditioned to last longer in the game, he will likely surpass this number consistently. However, against a hot Guardians lineup back Wood to stay under 5.5 strikeouts at great odds.
