Nearly every NHL team is in action today, adding to the already exciting home stretch of the season. The top 2 teams in the Eastern Conference have clinched their playoff spot, but that’s all that’s set in stone thus far. That means nearly every matchup has meaning, even if it’s teams looking to play spoiler. We also have action starting in the early afternoon and going on all throughout the day and night. Two of the spots where we’ve found the most value are 2 of the first games, so let’s not waste any time getting into things.

Along with our NHL mega parlay, be sure to check out all of our NHL picks for today’s action.

Tampa Bay Lightning ML (+140) over Boston Bruins

There are 2 games dropping the puck at 1 PM ET, with this Atlantic Division battle being one of them. Betting against the Bruins has not been enjoyable this season, but the Lightning are one of a few teams that provide value in this spot. They defeated Boston in their most recent matchup, which was almost exactly 2 months ago. They did so by holding the Bruins to just 2 goals, and that stout defense has been their calling card against them.

They’ve allowed more than 3 goals to the Bruins just twice in their last 18 meetings. That’s a ridiculous stretch of games and speaks volumes to just how dominant Andrei Vasilevskiy has been in net for Tampa. There’s no denying that Boston’s Linus Ullmark is the favorite for this season’s Vezina Trophy award, but Vasilevskiy can be the greatest player on the ice any given day. The Lightning also have the skating talent to match David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand with Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos. These teams are for more even for Tampa to be this significant of an underdog.

Seattle Kraken 3-way ML (+115) over Nashville Predators

Just an hour after that battle of titans is a rematch of just 2 nights ago. The Preds got the best of the Kraken in a narrow 2-1 shootout victory. However, it’s Seattle who is playoff bound, while Nashville needs a miracle for a postseason berth. Keep in mind that the Kraken are just in the 2nd year of being a franchise, making this season that much more impressive. They also handled Nashville with ease in their first matchup, taking them down 5-1.

Despite the Preds being in the playoff race at the trade deadline, they were still massive sellers. They traded Mikael Granlund to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nino Niederreiter to the Winnipeg Jets. Along with Filip Forsberg’s injury, they are a shell of what they were to begin the season. While they won Thursday’s game, 2 goals are far from inspiring. That’s a product of their lack of offensive talent being void of the aforementioned skaters. This month, Nashville has scored the fewest goals per game, so we trust that Seattle can prove why they’re the playoff-bound team in this matchup.

Pittsburgh Penguins 3-way ML (+110) over Washington Capitals

Rounding out our NHL mega parlay is a classic rivalry for nearly 20 years now. Washington’s Alex Ovechkin was the #1 overall pick in the 2004 NHL Draft, while Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby was taken #1 overall in the 2005 NHL Draft. Ever since, these teams have had incredible games. The Pens recently had an impressive win, torching the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on the road. They then fell to a great Dallas Stars team 3-2, but that was a stereotypical let-down spot after the big win.

Now they get to head back to the Steel City to host a Caps team that has had a far worse season than expected. They aren’t technically eliminated from playoff contention, but they might as well be. Washington may be riding high from their recent 6-1 win, but beating the Chicago Blackhawks isn’t saying much. These teams have split the season series thus far, but Pittsburgh has much more momentum heading into this game as they look to lock up an Eastern Conference Wild Card spot. With a Pens offense that is coming together and an uncharacteristically weak Caps defense, we’ll back the home team tonight.
