Well, we already mentioned Auston Matthews, so how could we not start with the American? In fact, the better question is, what hasn’t been said about him at this point? The Arizona native is going for the first 70-goal season since 1992-93, and he was already the first American-born skater to record a 60-goal season just two years ago.
Although he wasn’t able to find the back of the net last night, he still leads the NHL with 55 goals, and now he gets to face a Washington Capitals team that he has feasted against as of late. The Caps’ goaltending isn’t awful by any means, but Matthews has scored a goal in 3 straight games against them! In the most recent meeting, he only needed a single shot to do so as well. Another skater you could consider to score a goal tonight is Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars. He and the Stars will be on home ice, where they are the 3rd-highest scoring team in the league, taking on the Arizona Coyotes. While that is certainly a reasonable approach, we are going to go with his shots on goal prop. A bit of an interesting handicap to keep in mind with this market is that it is a bit more of a subjective stat to record, and home stat keepers tend to be more favorable for their home team.
Even outside of that, Robertson has been firing away against Arizona.
