Good morning, Pickswise Nation. We have more than a week to go before Super Bowl LVII kicks off, but there is a lot going on in other sports to hold us over for the time being. Don’t sleep on the NBA, NHL, college basketball or the PGA Tour while we wait for Chiefs vs Eagles. It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!

About Last Night

NHL prop run reaches 18-6
Our NHL experts are now on an amazing 18-6 prop run after Tuesday’s lone play cashed easily. In fact, to say it cashed “easily” would be a gross understatement. Ottawa‘s Tim Stutzle was -110 to record an assist and all he did was rack up 2 assists and 2 goals as his team beat Montreal 5-4.

NBA parlay cashes at +597
Tuesday’s 3-team NBA parlay was a +597 winner with the Clippers covering -3 against the Bulls, the Hornets staying within 11.5 points of the Bucks and the Heat vs Cavaliers game staying under 211. Meanwhile, the Lakers picked up a much-needed 129-123 overtime win in New York, which cashed our 3-star best bet on LA at +120 odds!

College basketball parlay (+612) also cashes
Just when you thought Pickswise’s night of handicapping couldn’t get any better, our college basketball parlay also cashed at +612 odds. Miami covered a -4 spread against Virginia Tech, UConn (-10.5) trounced DePaul 90-76 and Kentucky covered -7 against Ole Miss in a 75-66 road victory.

Today’s Slate

NBA doubleheader on ESPN
There are 9 NBA games today and the schedule is headlined by a doubleheader on ESPN. It begins with Brooklyn paying a visit to Boston and concludes with Phoenix hosting Atlanta. Don’t miss any of our NBA picks.

Last day before the NHL all-star break
The NHL All-Star Weekend is rapidly approaching, so Wednesday marks the end of the proverbial first half of the season. Carolina is visiting Buffalo at 7:30 pm ET on TNT while Toronto is playing host to Boston at 7:30 pm ET on ESPN+. You can find our hockey coverage on the NHL page.

#1 and #2 in college basketball taking the court
Top-ranked Purdue (vs Penn State) and #2 Tennessee (at Florida) are both lacing ‘em up on Wednesday. Meanwhile, an all-top 25 showdown between #17 Providence and #16 Xavier is also taking center stage. Here are our college basketball predictions.

Best Bet of the Day

NCAAB: Providence +3.5 over Xavier (-110)
6:30 pm ET

The big news – and bad news for Xavier — is that Zach Freemantle (foot) will be sidelined (not only for this game but also for at least a month). Freemantle leads the team in usage and field-goal attempts, so his absence is sure to be felt considering Xavier has a very shallow bench with just 6 other players getting meaningful minutes in Big East play. His size and ability to stretch the floor would have been a great asset against Providence, which is riding a 3-game winning streak. The Friars are more than capable of testing the Musketeers’ depth without Freemantle. Providence should cover and maybe even win outright. Check out our full Providence vs Xavier predictions.

Stat of the Day

The Jazz rank 4th in the NBA in points per game and 3rd in offensive rating. However, they find themselves in the bottom 10 in both opponent points per game and defensive rating.

Quote of the Day

Since both play on offense, it makes it a little bit easier. They just root for the offense, rooting for high-scoring offense — (a) score every time type (of) situation.”
